Even though, the Indian Cricket team has hit rock bottom and then gone on to dig another 50 miles, but still Indian public refuses to patronize Hockey! For a considerable amount of time, I thought that this was because of the lack of monetary support for the game... But, how long could the pretense of 'no money, so no trophies' hold up??
The Indian Hockey team perhaps hit a purple patch in 2002-03, when Jugraj Singh converted almost all penalty corners and others played well around him; but after Jugraj's car accident, there has been no full recovery for both Jugraj (who wasn't able to continue playing hockey afterwards) and the Indian Hockey.
The worst part was when India failed to qualify for the 2008 Olympics and finished last in the 2012 version, losing every match...
So until the Hockey team gives the public a reason to cherish its play, the Indian public would stick to Cricket, or perhaps start following something like Badminton where atleast some Indians are doing well...
With political background and bureaucrats with past hockey players and with values - we will be top of the world .As long scoundrels are in the IHF or the other we will win one match nere and there but never consitently
win or loss are part of game only thing required is effort. both teams played well in the end luck favours pak no issue india can return with pride pak with bronze medal
