His level of play has gone down. the retirement was expected. He will be missed. His 2009 final against federer was a classic. Roddick should have won that Wimbledon but FEDERER denied it. Roddick got alot of sympathy after that final. its not easy playing tennis after 30. Nadal is already experiencing a BURNOUT not only due to his style of play but also playing 5 or 6 hours finals against a player like Novak. These two will experience a BURNOUT even before they reach 30 if they don't keep their matches short. Look at Roger Federer, he beat Novak in less than 3 hours in Wimbledon. Federer has been smart from the beginning of his tennis career. He schedules his tournaments really well and tries to keep his matches short as much as possible. its no wonder Federer is only the second player after Agassi to win a GRANDSLAM. The level of consistency shown by ROGER FEDERER is unmatched. HE IS NO.1 AT THE AGE OF 31. This is one of the reasons why ROGER FEDERER IS THE GREATEST EVER. I can easily see Federer playing till 35. I can't say the same for the Nadal or Novak.
its sad roddick has to retire at 30 itself.. federer on the other hand is still going on strong even at the age of 31... thats the sign of a great player and a true champion. its also questionable whether nadal will be able to play beyond 30 yrs.
