through out my young days although I had taken to badminton, cricket, carrom , chess, volleyball even basketball, kho kho or kabaddi. That means my entire life I have not played a single match of hockey. I believe this is the fact with more than 95% of Indian population.

The National game can only become national shame if the game continues to get the same recognition at grass root level.
Blame the goddamn politics that weekend Indian hockey. IHF and HI are two junkie groups going good-for-nothing job. Blaming the coach is always the easiest thing. But everyone saw what Indian team was capable off. Why did they leave the experience players like Vikram Pillay, Prabjot Singh or penalty corner specialists like Len Ayappa in the team. World Series Hockey helped lots of Indian players to get exposure, but none were selected for the olympics. Both IHF and HI should be dissolved and a fresh team of leaders comprising of former hockey legeneds should take the lead. Only then we will have a long term focus and hope for a TOP6 finish in RIO games.
I hope Indian team and other state team have to play more matches and skill sets are needed to be tuned further . We may not have played bad hockey but we were mostly outplayed by brilliant opponents who kept India guessing. I hope a coordination committee needs to be set up to upgrade Indian hockey at junior level and India needs to popularize the hockey at every district level. Otherwise we don't see much improvement.

I believe enough is enough. Indians did not degrade hockey by playing in olympics but rather they fought through to get the Olympic berth. I hope the standard of indian hockey was no match to the superior teams. Look at the investment Pakistan made to train their team for the olympics - you will feel shame that India did not pay the attention to train current indian team that hard.
Eneough of excuses my Shivendra.. indian public knows the culprit was the players.. there indesciplined play cost them all the match..even god cant teach them play.. same old over dribbling , not pushing penalty corners , poor trpping and missing chance to score was the culprit not nobs who seems to have done a decent job

indian did not play poor hockey they were outplayed by superior teams. India needs to built up hockey at the roots level to match to the current international standards.

main root of problem is that it is controlled by govt..why cricket is progressed be coz of BCCI is not in control oh sports ministry.if same can be done with IHF,results would have been very different.

India tried by putting up league but that did not receive any interest. Its better hockey fund should be released for every state to make the sports popularize first then only one can get hold of clubs and sponsors.
