To win a slam, Sania will need to first qualify. Is she good enough for that.

I always appreciate Sania Mirza as she is the only ranked female tennis player of India. It is really pathetic that we donot have another formidable female player till today in the international tennis circuit.Sania carries India's flag from country to country as lone women tennis player. She will remain in limelight, till a new comer steps into her shoes.

In independent India,Sania Mirza is the only female player who has won grand slam tennis championship.

And,I have no issues about her personal life because I never dreamt of marrying her...

whoa! Whoa! Did I miss a point here. Sania never won the first round of any grand slam, leave alone winning it. You are right, she is the only women Tennis player in India who is carrying herself country to country only that she is going to different countries and carrying that flag (like going to Pakistan and carrying their flag) but refuses to carry Indian flag. She is someone who should be clearly deported to Pakistan.

She has progressed until quarter finals of US open championships in 2005 or 2006. So the statement that she has never won the first round of a GS tournament is untrue.

Mary Kom is a source of inspiration and role model for all.

Saina is the symbol of Indian new generation of go getter atheletes.

Sania is a veteran hard working fighter.

Deepika just started her career and not in the line of the first three. But she has a promising career ahead...

Sania Mirza is a Good Tennis Player.
by itz Scorpion on Aug 17, 2012 03:45 PM  | Hide replies

Sania Mirza (born 15 November 1986, in Mumbai) is a professional Indian tennis player, well known for her powerful forehand ground strokes. She is the current Indian No.1 in both singles and doubles and has held this position since 2003. In her career, Mirza has notable wins over Svetlana Kuznetsova, Vera Zvonareva, Marion Bartoli and former World No. 1s Martina Hingis & Dinara Safina.

Mirza is the highest ranked female tennis player ever from India, with a career high ranking of 27 in singles and 7 in doubles. She is the first Indian female player to surpass US$1m in career earnings; first Indian to win a WTA Tour title of any kind; and, by winning the 2009 Australian Open – Mixed Doubles Event, became the third Indian, male or female, to win a Grand Slam title (the first two being Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes). Mirza has also won the 2012 French Open – Mixed Doubles Event (her second Grand Slam title).

Mirza was one named one of the '50 heroes of Asia' by Time in October 2005. In March 2010, The Economic Times named Mirza in the list of the "33 women who made India proud".
