Does this have any logic....in qulifiers you have very low ranked teams and still you lost to belgium...........please say that this team was the poorest which went to olympics.

35% of potential?
by undo hazare on Aug 15, 2012 09:49 AM

India played like very amateur team slow on the field, missed passes, poor defense, poor keeping, poor penalty corner conversion right from 1st match against dutch (dont go by scorelines) to last against south africa. Even if this was 35% of potential the 100% potential would not do much. Go to scratch board.
Only the one on one individual ball tackling was better.

India actually played well against Dutch team, the silver medallist. And from there on with each match they played worst. Can think of only one reason, lack of stamina. With tired bodies mind does not work and performance is affected.IHF has to single out unfit players and give oppurtunity to young and fit players only.

bogus team

Please stop paying any attention to/ posting on these time passers ... I think they donot know what is meant by "potential". Enough has been done for them ... now let them prove themselves by beating teams like Germany and Netherlands consistently. I remember there was a time even in the 80s and early 90s when India used to beat Malaysia, Peru, Argentina and Spain consistently by 4-6 goals. And these shameless bunch went to pass time at such a sacred event as the Olympics, at the cost of the nation's funds!

To Improve Medals count
by Face it Dude on Aug 14, 2012 10:34 PM

1) Identify target sports activities that we want to really excel (say 10-15 nos). More can be added as things change.

2) Establish standards for each in this target list and rate potential stars against those benchmarks

3) Provide adequate financial security to all sportsperson that practice the target list of sports that meet with the benchmark so they maintain a standard of living. This should be sponsored by state and should continue as long as they are engaged in the sporting activity.

4) Provide financial and other incentives if they out do themselves and achieve higher goals. This should be regulated and monitored by sports ministry.

5) Increase awareness / visibility amongst public about the target sports in the country by state sponsored programmes

6) Sponsoring norms for private agencies should be revised so that all sports persons engaged in the target list of sports get an equal chance towards gaining public visibility.

India will get more medals if these are done systematically.

why we r wasting crores of money on hockey and players for just one gold medal which are not sure we will get it or not.we have already saw the results of indian hockey.

we can give more focus in other events like wrestling, boxing, shooting where we have more chances. why we r not focusing on swimming which got lot of medals ???dont we have money to provide swimming pools or we think that we r wasting millions of litres of water on filling those pools.
