CHINA WON EVERYTHING ON ITS OWN

The Olympics started in Ancient Greece.. Athens. It is a ceremony which consisted of games set up by European countries also followed now in the American west. It consists MOSTLY games in which western countries have been participating from a long time and are traditionally good at. Swimming consists of the maximum no.of medals. Other events have few medals. In Table Tennis, Hockey, Badminton, wrestling you have to win tournaments that is many matches to win a single medal.
Imagine if in track & field they handed out a medal in the 100m for running, running backward, hopping and skipping. That’s essentially what happens in swimming.
Maybe every sport should start handing out medals like this; right now the Olympics give out about 300 something medals; why not make it 1,000? Incidentally, of those 302 medals, swimming gives out 96: Almost a third!
SEE its all made to suit these countries.
PLUS the African Americans become Americans once in four years... when they win medals for America. Even countries like Netherlands, Denmark etc.. you have players of African origin for track and field and Chinese players for badminton and Table tennis.
SO just imagine in a sporting event full of sports traditionally followed by western countries and which have different medal policies. China being the leader.. Also small but advanced countries like South Korea and Japan coming in 5th or 6h places!

Also China's medal haul is more all round. It has won medals in Table Tennis, Badminton, Diving, Weightlifting. Where as for the US the major medals came only from Swimming and now track and field from African Americans who become Americans only once in four years.... when they get Olympics medals for their country.

I really agree with your all point, i dont understand why there are so many swimming occassion and why only 1 person participating in each one, why they are doing like 50M,100M,200M,400M,800M,1500M etc...so where US think that they can win medals they increase numebersof game there.. and all world follows it.

OVERRATED, IMBALANCED and UNFAIR

Swimming medals are the most watered-down handed out at the Games, Phelps eight don’t equal the four that Jesse Owens won in 1936 or Carl Lewis 1984.
Imagine if in track & field they handed out a medal in the 100m for running, running backward, hopping and skipping. That’s essentially what happens in swimming.
Instead of giving out a medal for simply the fastest person to go the 100m, they give one for each of four different strokes; and at the 200m distance, they give out five medals (one for individual medley). That’s bullshit. Of Phelps’ eight golds, only three are from freestyle (2008), and two are from the medley.
Plus, with so many different strokes, it waters down the talent pool even more, with some athletes gravitating toward breastroke, others to backstroke, etc…. Whereas Owens and Lewis both won the crown “fastest man alive” with their sprinting success, Phelps can’t claim that, as he doesn’t even race the 50m or 100m distances. Phelps never even had to race against France’s Alain Bernard (except in a relay).
Maybe every sport should start handing out medals like this; right now the Olympics give out about 300 medals; why not make it 1,000?
Incidentally, of those 300 medals, swimming gives out 96: Almost a third!

why there are heats, qf,semi finals and finals in swimming?? why they just dont give medal to those who recorded fastest time in that event.
what if they conduct all heats first and reveal the best timings at the end and anounce the medal for the fastest.
do u think the result will be same compare to what we practice today??

truly dont understand what you are trying to say...if you want to give some sugesstions to Olympic Commity, you can do it by sending them directly..can you please clarify the following

1. In what sense you had compared swimming with running. Do you mean swimming is easiest sport?

2. Do you mean to say that only free style is tough one and all others like backstroke, butterfly etc are easy ones.

Like today, after twenty years somebody would be comparing Phelps with some other medalist who would have won 10golds in swimming or would have finished 100m in 9.0 seconds. This type of comparison never ends.

Can we have a Olympics exclusively for the brotherhood? Equestrian events can be organised with camels instead of thoroughbreds
