Here it is mentioned that no one from India has ever won two medals at the games. The very first Indian athlete Norman Gilbert Pritchard (also known as Norman Trevor) (June 23, 1877 – October 31, 1929)won two silvers in 1900 Paris Olympics.Though he was of British descent he was born in Calcutta and participated in Paris Olympics as an Indian. He won medals in 200 mtrs hurdles and 200 mtrs. sprint. Many hockey players have 3-4 Olympic medals.Leslie Claudius has three gold and one silver.Dhyan Chand had three golds.

well noman prichard was technically a british. And I think the article talks about individual medals and not the team events. No Indian has won two individual medals in Olympics. Vijender came closest. Now lets hope Sushil kumar breaks the jinx.

Amol & Nikhil, I dont understand the logic of losers commenting on Olympic medal winners and Great cicketers. What have you acheived to comment on them? He won a bronze which means third best boxer in that category in the world in 2008, have you even played district level? Stop being a loser. Be happy he brought a medal for the country. And he lost this time in quarter finals, amongst top 8 in the world. What Vijender and Tendulkar have acheived is beyond your level. Get a life

Om, Mary was performing well even in 48. Had there been a 48 kg category, Mary was a sure shot gold medallist. Vijender is switching probably because he is not able to maintain the diet required for 75.

mary:6:15, devendro, 1:15. Devendro is at disadvantage as Devendro has trained with the same guy and they know Devendro's weaknesses. Also, it's an Irish boxer for Devendro and English for Mary so judges will again play foul.

Magnificient Mary Kom will come thinking it is last fight of her life as she will retire after the olympics. In 51 kg fly weight category, she will try her best to prevail upon present world champion Nicola_Adams of Great Britain in the Semifinal at 18:15 IST.
In Men's 49 kg light fly weight category Quarter Final,so far India's cleanest fighter L_Devendro Singh will face P_Barnes of Ireland at 01.15 IST.
I think he lacked focus since the media and bollywood/reality shows certainly distracted him in last couple of years. He needs to work on his attitude and stamina. Sincere advice just practice hard and do not get distracted by false and undue publicity thru media and reality shoes. Thats not your cup of tea.

No point in switching from a category in which he has done so well and there are only 2-3 better boxers than him in the current category....
He is going to star in a bollywood movie next...
The real reason for switching to 81 kg could be that he wants to become the nbext Salman Khan!!!!!!!!!
India performing well in the last few Olympics and we will do better in the next one for sure. Even our Athlets finish in top 10 in walking and discus throw where India unable to qualify for the finals in previous events!

I truly agree with you. Even my great grandfathers said that once and it seems like taking shape. I love dreaming.
