:))

I have played several games such as table tennis, cricket, badminton, chess, carom, football, etc.Even now I play Billiard and Bowling.I mostly lose against my Chinese opponents here in China.Sometimes,I win also. But in Table tennis,I could not beat them till now.For the Chinese, they have compulsory sports in school and their government invests $ 70 billion per year on sports and health. So,they have this sporting environment.

I have played for school football team and local club cricket and football team.I have been once runners_up in maholla_badminton :)

I understand how hard it is.And I could not succeed much in sports being from middle class family and with the responsibility of getting good grades in school.

So,I understand how hard it is to be winner in sports and thats why I always encourage them.

It is very easy to post a comment criticizing others but really tough to face challenge in international field.

Our main problem is the environment in the country, government does not think about sports and health, and there is no Q of atheletes. There is no tough competition for Mary Kom,Deepika,Saina or others. There should be atleast 10 Saina Nehwal in a country of 120 crores.

Because of this lack of competition back home, our atheletes are not tough and many of them fails in international level. We need to be respectful towards them except for hockey team.

We are progressing in sports, but very slowly. It will be much better by 2024 olympics...

Yeah - that is how it should be done. Introduce sports and health at school level. Basically the Chinese are making a concerted effort towards achieving greatness, here it is individual effort. Here the concerted effort is to produce a factoryOfMBAs and uselessEngineers. SorryOS - you are probably a MBA or engineer - what can we do? There is simply no drive for any sporting activity, for that matter, creativity and talent grooming.

Indian medal haul
by French Cuisine on Aug 07, 2012 08:05 AM

Out of 3 possible medals yesterday Indian won only one. Indian sportsmen are just unable to bring it at the Oly. Vij has fallen from the shining top he had climbed and now it is the end of road for him. So long Vij - you have made us proud.

I was hoping for 5 medals, we have to be happy with 4 it seems and no golds.

he forgot that because of boxing people of India know him now he will see the real truth that all these filmi and fashion world people will not even come close to him they are d--o--gs to spoil sports of India. he should have understood when he was knocked out in first round in his previous competition but still he kept saying this show business is not going to effect his boxing now he will see how many endorsements he will get.

every one was aiming for medal but it is not Asian Games or Common Wealth games when he lost in first round almost knocked out in previous competition before olympics he should have understood that his level is going below and he got warning signal but he kept busy in endorsements and filmi functions and Ramps all these people will not give you any importance now.

Losing 13-17 is not biting the dust. Perhaps 3-17 or 7-17 is.

Appreciate the heroes who are representing the country despite crossing so many odds. You should have a news which should describe pages about his struggle to become a pugilist. Indian media sucks.

Its unfrtunate that in a country of 120 crores we even say that it was a struggle to find a dozen boxers. Its a national shame. Just how big is Cuba or Mongolia in terms of size or population or economy? they are far inferior. Now we should stop the habit of honoring mediocre performances, simply face the reality and take action so we produce sporting heros ruthlessly.
