He is a thunder Bolt...
by sundaram chandran on Aug 06, 2012 10:05 PM

Even after a slow start at the 100 mtrs with the world's best racers trying to outwit him, he has proved to be the greatest 'thunder' Bolt.. Imagine if he had made a perfect start, he would definitely have lowered the world record mark still further..Hats off to this great athelete.. Hope one day India also produces a true world champion in the 100 mtrs..Till such time let us enjoy this 'Thunder' Bolt devouring the time charts for some more time to come...

Yes. In China, they dont prepare you, they put you in a military-kind-of school, make you practice they game you are there for, for hours, days, months, years, make you a senseless ROBOT and finally ditch you, if you dont meet their standards, and select only those they believe can bring them medals. Dont you see scores of chinese TT, Badminton players representing other countries? Do you think they genuinely belong to those countries? When Xi Lie pulled out of the bronze medal match again Saina, she cried and said 'Only a chinese can understand the pain and sufferings of a medal prospect pulling out'. Chines olympics coaching centers are similar to the IIT-JEE training instities we have in India. In fact they are much worse that than.

We condemn congress...for the corruption...the incessant and colossus loot, the ruthless price increase, the massive blow to the pockets of the people...resultant hunger...impending malnutrition...to sum up the highly miserable plight of the people...which set to go even worse in the times to come...the same kind of situation, only with some variation of degree was prevailing in 2009 elections...can we hope for better 2014...no because by hook or crook or our(i.e.non minority)divided voting...larget minority(i.e.2nd majority's) united voting again give them a chance to ruin us and our nation...besides praying to the almighty can we not unite ourselves and become responsible citizen and ensure a change at the centre...rising above caste and reli gion so the next time even if they come into power they will fear the wrath of the electorates who they have taken forgranted and are busy in filling their coffars and the coffars of the highly rich and wealthy class.

How USA and Britian are still manipulating the world
by Maihoon Don on Aug 06, 2012 12:41 PM  | Hide replies

Olympics is one example how US and GBR are manipulating the world still. All kudos to their sportsmen who are winning.

But around 50 plus gold medals for water sports. Why so many medals in swimming? Why so many medals in rowing/sailing etc?

US is winning majority gold medals in swimming and Britian is winning in rowing and sailing. When these countries realized that poor African countries and carribean countries are coming up to win most athletic track and field medals, they decided to add more and more in water related events. Synchronized diving and swimming is one example of strange sports getting so many medals. Why not Kho Kho, Kabaddi etc? An asnine sport like fencing is given so many medals. It is clear that developing countries like African countries, South Asian and South American countries are being given a raw deal by the Western European and North American hegemony in the world.

hey man, good analysis, if china wins a gold medal in swimming, they are accused of doping, how about phelps who has won so many golds, does he get tested or the results bypassed, if it is america and britain eveybody says wow. if it is developing country these super powers start questioning.

Ur an Idiot, India and African countries dont have water bodies ? that what do we have around us and within us, what's the sea's and rivers doing, to dump waste. The fact is that we are simply not good at managing our resources. What does it take to take a few good swimmers and train them all in a STATE of ART swimming pool built during "COMMON WEALTH GAMES" by ur favourite better than BJP, Kangress, which u have been supporitng !!!

Spot On ! Fully agree with you...US and GBR unneccessarily added medals in form of useless races in swimming and water sports...more than any other country they want to keep China at bay because China only gives them real threat....the day Chinese start targeting swimming golf will be added in Olympics with medal for 1 hole, 2 hole, 3 hole....18 hole categories...

third world countries don't have enough water bodies and infrastructure to train their people for water based sports.

i can run around my house but can't practice swimming.

again pessimistic souls like you will never understand the larger point. you guys are ready to serve under colonial hegemony for ever. first the developing countries need to fight out at IOA why so many medals for sports like rowing, sailing etc which aare not played around 70% of the world. also, why so many variations in swimming when one 200m or 400m race can decide who is the best swimmer.

I am of the same feeling as you. I just dont understand why certain remote sports hog the limelight with so many medal events, while a decent Asian game or an African game doesn't show up at olympics. There are many idiots in India who dont understand your point. Best is to ignore them.

On any given day, I would say T20 cricket is more popular than Cycling, Cannoying, Sailing, Equestrian, Handball, Water Polo. Now dont go around saying cricket is played in only 10 countries. How many countris do you think play the games I mentioned above at a serious professional level. And why have more than 40 GOLD medals in Swimming alone? There seems to be too much bias on European sports.
