India started playing hockey since beginning of 20th century and competed in Olympics since 1926 - beginning of the golden era of Indian hockey till 1956 it own all olympic golds. Hockey is india's national game and has a huge emotional and historical attachments.
South Korea recognised the game of Hockey in the year 1988. Till 1995 hockey was played only as a game in official circuits (there was only one state Hockey team) at a national level. i.e. there is no fan following from universities or general public.
India and South Korea have faced each other atleast 25 - 30 times in the past and South Korea have won at least 15 times.
Of late South Korea has been beating India convincingly and tellingly that ones not sure who played the game longer.

It is dissapointing as an Indian to see Vikas Krisnan bow out of this Olympics because of an unfair decision reversal later on at the Games.It is unfair on part of Vikas Krishnan to be stripped off a place at the Games due to injustice.Its a shame for the Indian Olympic Association to have meekly surrendered to this decision.Its the responsibility of the Indian Boxing Federation to raise their voice and ensure justice prevails and Vikas Krisnan gets an entry to the quarters.I hope this decision doesnt dampen the spirits of the Indian Boxing contingent and they will fight to show the world that we are the best when cornered.I feel Indians were cheated in both the boxing bouts and we should fight till we are awarded justice.Jai Hind
Yes true Vikas not in the quarters. I would not say he lost because he did not lose. His opponent was given extra points as Vikas suppose to commit fouls. Interestingly if the American had lost this bout (well he did lose) I would say had been out after this bout there would have been no American winning a medal in boxing for the first time in the olympics. We cannot let this happen. Can we?

India was always good in 'shotting'. You can see the result. 1.25 billion people!! 1/6th of world population.
Compared to other days it was an okay performance today. Some dude picked up a medal and shooters showed plenty of preparation. Of course the hockey team basked in the glory of under-performance, we should arrange a felicitation ceremony for the team once they arrive.
