You need a great team with great players that are selected on merit to play. Selecting amateurs when there are thousands of better players will only make the team lose, no matter how hard they try. It is very sad to see india selecting bad players in all their sports teams.
The coach of the Indian hockey team must be fired. He is paid too much for poor performance because he is a Caucasian. The Indian administrations must appoint coaches purely on merit and not on other considerations.
I know that everybody in the form wants the team to comeback and you want to disown them. The fact is even though we are talented we dont have the basic infrastructure for the game in India. How many Astro turfs do we have ? Maybe less than 10. So you expect somebody whos played all his childhood days in poor infrastructure and then get adjusted to Astro turfs. It needs to come naturally not in a forced manner. Wish the guys the best atleast for trying.

You are absolutely right. Even a small country like Netherlands has more than 200 Astro turfs. Hockey right from the basic school level has to be played on astro turfs, but as of now the improvement in infrasyructure looks almost impossible because we have two federations at the National level - HI and IHF, both are not interested in the development of the sport but are hungry only for power
What a pathetic display. Can't trap the ball, can't defend or score, just running helter skelter for ball possession.Regaining position in Asians will be daunting task. I now think team under Jose Barsa played better hockey.
