Rediff's journalism is akin to India's peformance at olympics. Pathetic.

cricket...the spoiler
by harsha on Aug 02, 2012 11:48 AM  | Hide replies

Repeated cricket round the year among only 8 countries...

Again mixing same players to form IPL teams and play for a long month only for lazy entertainment, rave parties, fixing, corruption and looting general public is nothing but big spoiler for all sports..

To become a sports country like China...we need to discard too much cricket (cricket is a limited competitive sports with only 8 major playing nations) and encourge to play other sports by our young and budding generation.

Cricket was invented by the Englishmen for standing in the sun in their cold country to get a tan and warm their bodies.
Nobody except the people in the Indian sub-continent take cricket seriously.

So many medals in swimming...its crazy
by Maihoon Don on Aug 02, 2012 11:41 AM  | Hide replies

I think IOA should look at it fairly. So many medals in swimming. 100m (all styles), 200m(all styles) etc etc. Now they have added synchronized diving too where they dive in pairs. Are they testing the world's best players with all these variations?

Something must be done to limit the games instead of adding events like canoe slam, fencing etc. I have no doubt fencing is an idiotic game which i have never understood. If such games are there, why not give chance to South Asian countries too with Kho Kho, Kabaddi etc.

I have always wondered what criteria they have to include a sport in olympics. They are 4 medal events in Cycling for men and women. They also have games like equestrian, handball, fencing which are not that popular world wide. At the same time, they dont include more popular games likes chess or regiaonl games like kabaddi, cricket. Dont understand the logic at all.

Logic is simple. European countries and USA/Canada/Aus have always manipulated the game as they want since they are majority in IOA. They will never give chance to South Asian countries because they consider them or their games third world. Look at hockey, it was traditionally played in grass and the euros were uncomfortable so they migrated it to turf which was end of indian domination in hockey.

Olympic is also a monopoly of some countries...They try to include some useless sports and increase medals in some events where they are the best...

many exciting games like Kabbadi, Kho-Kho , T20 cricket can easily be included in Olympics

But then you have to appreciate China, who, in spite of entire Europe and America doing everything to prevent Asians from coming up, are paying them back in their own coin in the London Olympics.

obviousely China is the only country who can challenge the Western Countries in the field of sports, millitary, technology, infrastucture, Market share ...!!!

India is way behind China in all spheres except production of population where India is next to China...

Indians are contented to live like the frog in the well with their pseudo-democracy or dynastocracy.

Soniaji,amul baby zindabad.

India's strengths :

1.Lazy cricket(played by 10 countries).

2.Bollywood-song,dance and dishum dishum - no story.

3.Corruption.

You said it . And the Indian media 's ridulous habit of cpmparing the country with China all the time . It's pathetic .Before the games they claimed that the country will reap a "rich haul of medals" The Chinks will lick us on the sports field , on the battleground , factories etc etc.

Teri Gnd. No need for Olympics. IPL is bigger and entertaining. Stick with what you are best at.

well then, why dont you take to sports and then we watch the fun trying to even qualify for the olympics.please do not belittle our sportsmen who are trying their best under the given circumstances.now the competion at the top is so tight that it is a matter of one millimeter here or there.
