india should do better..like China
by Abhi on Aug 02, 2012 05:40 AM  | Hide replies

India should concentrate on other sports and not just Cricket. It is shameful to not win any major medals. We should give importance to sports and not just "call centres". If "chota country can win mota medals, why not a mota country like India, win chota medals"?

what is your contribution towards winning any medal. IT is very easy to blame or comment but.

In place of commenting, try to do somthing from your side. At least I give Badminton training to 5 to 8 years kids.

Come on ! Get out of this foolish idea that cricket spoils everything.

In USA American football, baseball, basketball and ice hockey are more popular ,some of which don't feature in olympics. That doesn't stop them from winning medals in olympics. Leave aside USA, smaller ,poorer coutries are doing better where footbal is the only popular sport.

All the politics played for what? India was nowehere near a medal. Places things in perspective that politics is useless.

Shame on BHupathi and Bopanna
by Anwar Ali on Aug 02, 2012 03:40 AM  | Hide replies

Shame on Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna, whose egos caused this debacle of Indians coming back empty handed. Paes was willing to play with anyone, with Bhupathi or Bopanna, and in the end even played with world # 404 Vishnu Vardhan, who has never played on grass before! You cannot win medals with someone with so little experience. Shame on BHupathi and Bopanna! Till the very end, they never shed their ego or their stance and got their way, they twised the arm of AITA, all for no use!

Its amazing how Bhupathi and Bopanna were saying they were practicing for 1 year together! All for what? At least Paes - BHupathi combo could have reached the semis, as they have played several times before, even with their personal differences.
The irony is Bhupathi lectured us on the importance of Olympic medal over grand slams just a couple of weeks back!

I'm not saying Paes is faultless, he is a very emotional person, but lets us all not forget his numerous feats for India (individual olympic medal after 50 years and numerous victories for India, including wins over the likes of Ivanisevic on grass). Noone can question Paes' patriotism, and Sania, Bhupathi and Bopanna can definitely learn about patriotism from Leander.

Totally agree. Mahesh Bhupathi should have a career in acting, courtesy his wife.. Leander has been given a very raw deal and still he fought like a tiger. So proud of him. I hope this Bhupathi does not play mind games with Paki Bahu sania and gets Leander more humiliation...

We sitting in our drawing room never know who is the egoist, Paes/Bhupathi. Even if they paired together, due to their personal rapo, they stood no chance to win a medal for the country.

I agree. In any circumastances, India has to place the best pair in the event like Olympics. Paes wanted Bhupati and Bhupati has his own ego and on the top he encourage Bhopana to show the same stupid attitude. I have a question why Tennis Federation has no hold on these players?

Paes/Vardhan were ok for the first two sets, but gave it away in the final set ..the oppostion wasn't really strong though, tsonga even though a good single's player was just passable in this format. There was a good support for both sides, especially the french fans were more vociferous with their chants of "allez les bleus" , interspersed with some chants by our fans "cmon india" with some flag waving from both sides...Anyway..another event bites the dust for us.

I agree, with your statement, although like most people on this forum, you seem to put the blame on everyone, instead of Bhupathi & Bopanna whose egos caused this issue in the first place. Paes was willing to play with anyone, with Bhupathi or Bopanna even though Bhupathi and Paes had some personal issues. Thats what we expect from professionals - put ur differences aside and play for the country

Very difficult match
by Manav Das on Aug 02, 2012 01:51 AM  | Hide replies

Well played till the end. I felt that the Paes-Vardhan combination was the better team. The French had awesome serves. The relief, joy and the way the French team jumped on the court after the match showed how difficult it was to beat Paes-Vardhan. You guys may have lost but you have won our hearts. Well played!

I think vishnu and somdev should play together, they can be a good doubles team. Vishnu has wonderful serve and volley which is vital in doubles.
