Our population is nearly 4 times that of USA and the total number of medals that we have won are less than this one man. We need deep introspection and more than anything else a good political support and debunk existing sports authority.
Agreed that Swimming has lot of events....but again,that advantage is for every swimmer ! same for swimmers in India and all other countries too...but Phelps has done which the others has not been able to do...and that,my friends...means something ! Kudos to Phelps.
Phelps has proved that one can overcome one's disabilities if only he has the will and determination. He is an inspiration for dyslexic children all over the world.
merely doing a medal count doesn't make you the 'greatest olympian ever'--this phrase means nothing, so i disagree with it. what phelps has done is created an olympic record for most medals (you have to take into consideration the no. of events in diff. sports as well.swimming got plenty of events)
