Federer has shortened the gap between him and Nadal in ranking points. There is a difference of 835 points. Nadal has to do finals or get a win in his favorite clay to stay no.2. If he doesn't then federer will steal the no.2 position from nadal and federer is already past his prime and yet he has chance to be no.2 in the world. Ofcourse, No.1 will not be priority for nadal since novak is miles ahead in points. In order to overcome novak and be no.1, he has to win both wimbledon and us open. Not an easy task for nadal who hasn't won a non-clay event since 2010.

The only chance for Federer is to keep winning smaller events, because we all know that once it comes to the slams and 3 setters,he's a sitting duck and cant logically expect to go beyond the semi finals.

yet, Federer has never achieved a calendar grand slam, not even a non-calendar grand slam as Don Budge did once and Rod Laver achieved not just once but twice !

Don't call urself a tennis fan if u can't respect a true legend, who has given so much to the game. It's a disgrace!!!!!!

Thanks for clarifying by adding'for me' before saying Federer is all time best.Nobody can argue with that. We're all entitled to our opinions. It's when you try to impose them on others, and mock people who dont agree with you (like you used to do earlier, and Mithani and Bango etc still do)when the issues arise.

ofcourse federer is an all-time best. He has broken previous records and he has created records that have yet to beaten by any active player. He is complete player and has multiple wins in all surfaces including countless records.

Yes Mithani,he is 'an' all time best, like many others. Not 'the' all time best. That's disputable.Exactly my point.
My dear friends who hate Nadal, read the topic and understand what sportsmanship is, he is really a true star nd d best athlete on planet for sure. he may not b having flair of game such as Fedex and Nova, but gud enuf to to compare with the likes of Sampras, Fedex, Borg and that itself shows what all he has been achieved. U dont compare every other person to the calibre of those people and that itseld said it all. Mithani Sir, your coment.

You have wrong misconception here. I don't hate Nadal. Its just that nadal fans don't like facts being thrown at them. Now, you just compared nadal to pete, and federer which is quite an unfair comparison. Sampras won 7 wimbledon titles, Federer 6. how many nadal has 2 only. Sampras and federer have 5 us open. nadal has only 1. federer has 4 austrailian open, nadal has 1. even novak has 3. sampras has won atp world tournament five times, federer has won it six times. how many times has nadal won it? 0. I find quite insulting that nadal gets even compared to the greats like sampras and now the all-time great federer when nadal's no. of grandslams titles in surfaces other than clay are not even close to sampras and federer. nadal records have been restricted to clay unlike federer and samparas who have won not only on grass but outdoor hard court and indoor hardcourts as well. clay alone is not the answer to tennis. tennis has other surfaces where nadal success is not even close to federer and pete. nadal is lagging far behind in comparison to pete and federer in 3 out 4 surfaces so how can anyone compare him to the likes of sampras or federer.

Going by your own arguments,Federer won just one French and we all know in what circumstances.ATP tour finals is just another tourney like the Masters,so I can ask how many times Federer won Monte Carlo?Barcelona?Madrid? So by your own arguments Federer is a very poor clay court player. Not an all courter by any counts. Not at all comparable to the GOAT Bjorn Borg. And I think it would be useful to know where Federer stood at the age of Nadal.

Each time you argue, you just tie yourself in more knots.Okay...to take your own arguments-Nadal has reached every Masters final except Cincinnati. He has the best win percentage in ATP masters history. Not to mention the highest number of trophies. All this at a way younger age than Federer.Nadal has won every slam and completed his career slam before Federer could manage it.Plus he's also lost 3 Wimbledon,1 US Open and 1 Aus Open final. So going by your own standards,Nadal has achieved success on all surfaces be it clay, grass or hard.Nadal is truly a complete and all court player.

He ranks one among the great..... no doubt about it. But his statement about regaining No 1 position is like resigning to the fact that he can't become No 1 any more....... He is known for his agression...... taking a stance like this doesn't suit his demeanor.

Why are you asking for a statement from a knucklehead like Mithani. He will come up with some dumb stuff.I think Rafa has made a significant statement. We want to see him claiming titles.Sure its great to see him finally overcome Novak, but I think what rankles him most is the three GS finals he lost to Novak.
