by arulananthan on Sep 16, 2011 07:53 PM  | Hide replies

for stupid games like cricket they reward crores and for higly skillful games like hockey Rs.25000. its a shame and disgrace. how on earth they could do this. this shows how Indians are. support stupid game cricket and waste five days, one day watching this stupid sport where the undeserved players earn millions. God save this nation.

More than politicians, it's we Indian Asses who've screwed Sport in India, having placed ONLY Cricket on our head & thrown all other Sports to the dustbin.

As it is, the number of Indian parents aspiring to make their children into Sportsmen is negligible. & to them, if you ask about which Sport they'd prefer their child to be proficient in, 80% of the answers will be predictable - CRICKET.

Not only the parents but the politicians as well. Since they have come to know the value of this goose (it's golden egg laying ability), they're trying to exploit it to the maximum, thereby acheiving more n more personal gains rather than development of Sports in India.

After all, what else do you expect from a poor, beggar country & it's inhabitants?

Why this hypocrisy
by Christy Uthup on Sep 15, 2011 02:20 PM  | Hide replies

We keep hearing hockey should be encouraged hockey should be developed hockey should be taught to youngsters et etc...but the palinn fact is people will play and watch what they enjoy. So if cricket is getting a lot of attention and generating money it is because people enjoy cricket SO BE IT

Hockey should neither be developed nor be encouraged, there is only one use left for this, to stick the so called leader, i.e. Pranab Muckherjee/Sardar MMS/Janardan Dwivedi/Manish Tiwari/Rajiv Shukla/Shiela dixit/sandeep dixit/kalmadi in forst go and than many others to follow.

25000 can buy some really good hockey sticks
by Sachidanand Gupta on Sep 15, 2011 04:01 AM

Any way you require only one ball to play so 25000 can really fetch these guys some good stuff like few good T-shirts and few very luxurious payjamas. They should grab this opportunity with both hands.

Stick to this kind of stubborn decision boys............but I don't think the officials are bothered at all about their fair demand. This is nothing new.

Rs. 25000 to Champions
by maringanti mohan on Sep 14, 2011 04:32 PM  | Hide replies

Sir,
Rs. 25000 each to Asian Hockey Champions is a National disgrace.
This surely is a method to weed out National sport from Indian Soil.
British left us long back, but we embraced their game so fondly.
It is time for Corporate houses’ to take over Indian Hockey as part of CSR.

Marigandke,

This will never happen as india is full of destitutes who will keep on toiling for even Rs 5 a day and you can always find 11 fools toiling somewhere in india so 25000 is like average indians annual saving which these people are getting for free.

Hockey players took right decision by rejecting 25,000. The dogs who offered that amount dont have any shame....Where are those dirty chief ministers now who paid crores for individual cricketers for world cup win...are they dumb....dirt politicians... separate sports from politics... remove politicians from sports federations..

Well said!! The amount that BCCI gives is of course warranted but politicians announcing cash rewards for the cricketers is dirty politics.
