Who benefits? CM of UP, some corporates and Sachin (who probably got paid for waving the flag). We are a beggar country (in the sense of more beggars than anywhere in the world). The money spent for a handful of moron followers of this sport could have been well utilized for upliftment of the poor.

I would like to know how you are helping our poor country. The better way of thinking is why don't we work hard come up in life and make the country and people who like us feel proud of us.

i agree with you thomas....i dont understand why people always connect to the poor for any thing which happens on a large scale in india. does anyone who says so donate 50% of their income for the development of poor.......immidiate response would be that we are from middle income group so the richer should do the donations.....there are issues in our country no doubt, but that should not be a criteria for stopping development.....its a personal view and not to offend anyone's feelings....
Fantastic F1 in India Noida U.P has put our nation on the world motor sport map. F1 is the most technology driven sport in the world. It will India GP has created 10000 jobs it should not see as only for Rich people.

Well I guess you are talking about IPL I think which is a BCCI event and BCCI is shared by everyone ...Sharad Pawar , Arun Jaitley , Rajiv Shukla...Vilas Rao Deshmukh...all these Netas benefit. But this is a privately organised event which will not benefit any Neta...hence no tax

BCCI is the richest board. if F1 can generate that kind of money then tax can be waived.... too early too courageous but good... this would open more doors of opportunity.

But isn't that illogical .Why do you need tax exemption when you are that rich?On the contrary , ultra rich should be taxed more

There are only two Indians who have raced in F1 . Karthikeyan was taking part in the race and Chandok was test driver for a team . Neither could have waved the flag . Since India doesn't have a long history in F1 , I suppose they decided to get the most famous Indian sportsperson to do the honours . Sachin is by far the most respected sportsperson in India now .

Man, venkatachalam- Be proud that you have a great ambassador in Sachin that he can stand up to any sport. The sooner you realize this the better. What's important here is to be proud that the country managed to host an event like this and we are now in an elite league. Its not about F1 or other sport. Its about the importance of India.Alas, you live in India and do not recognize the importance. Maybe a stint in a less fortunate country would help you appreciate the country and its people.
