List of Race Tracks in India:

List of Race Tracks in India according to Wikipedia:
Active:
Irungattukottai Race Track, Sriperumbadur, Chennai
Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore
Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida

Inactive:
Sholavaram Airstrip, North Chennai

Inference: 2 from Chennai, 1 from Coimbatore
3 out of 4 from Tamil Nadu and that too acquired in the 80's. That is one good reason why so many Race drivers are from Tamil Nadu.

Atlast some place outside Tamil Nadu is getting a Race track now. And this will make people from North learn how to race and make it to the International stage like the Tamil Nadu racers.

Though I am lived in Delhi for most of my life but I failed to understand why everything is so delhi centric. We have other cities too Mumbai,Kolkatta, Chennai etc. CWG games now this. India is not Delhi. Let other cities too devolop. For CWG and F1 lot of money was pumped in and lot of local industries benifited and same should be done with other cities. I am happy for Delhilites but do feel that other cities will lag behind the national capital further and further.

why only big cities.
Govt should develop small cities like lucknow, kanpur, varansi,Allahabad Patna also and not only metros.

any such event generates very high profits for the city/state/center

you must have observed IPL or world cup, most of them were centered to north than south so that can yeild good revenues for the govt and entertainment for the people

it also creates political strength as uneducated people get astonised that their govt is doing so many things or events!

Land given to Industry is seized back for pushing farmers, where are they now, by the way how much percentage of population knows about this sport, what about the pollution and save Oil Campaign?...

Many questions, surprising the circuit has come to life without any hastle, where as so many infrastructure problems persist.
