Good bye Nadal.
by HUSSAIN MITHANI on Nov 25, 2011 09:29 PM

The way Nadal is playing, he seems to be headed for retirement. He is only a king of clay after all unlike federer who is the king of all surfaces. I don't think Nadal can ever win this tournament. Nadal is losing to seeded players below him and unseeded players. I don't think he deserves to be no.2 in the world. He will crash further next year. This is only the beginning,

It seems Djokovic has done to Nadal what Nadal had done to Federer.
First Federer was consistently losing to Nadal, and then his confidence level went down so much, that he started losing to lesser players.
Djokovic, by inflicting half a dozen successive defeats on Nadal seems to have created some doubts in Nadal's mind about his own game, and he has suddenly started losing to other players as well.
All said and done, I hope Djokovic wouldn't be able to maintain his level of play next year at the level he displayed this year, and Nadal is going to regain the no.1 spot. Federer of course remains out of the equation: not because he is playing badly, but because he is not getting younger.
Players like Tsonga, Ferrer and Del Potro might push Federer out of Top 5 next year.

Buddy, besides Nadal's own loss of confidence please do recognize the fact that Tsonga has been playing his best tennis ever. I wouldn't be surprised if he is to beat federer and win this title. Just watch out for some exciting tennis ahead.

If Nadal plays his best tennis, it does not really matter if Tsonga is playing his best tennis. The fact is Nadal is usually good at defensive game, make less unforce errors and win those long rallies, and he is not able to do right now.

I think Ferrer is playing better than Tsonga in this tournament.

Keep FedEx out of the equation at your own peril. His fluid game does not need the hustle & bustle that Rafa, Nole and Murray dwell on. So age does not really comne into the equation at all. Agreed that it would be nice to see Tsonga and DelPo pushing out a few of these top 5's but I think Federer has another couple of Slams in him.

There would have been a chance for Federer to add more slams if slams are 3-setters. Those 5-setter matches will take a toll on Federer and hence I think it is very difficult for Federer to win another slam.

yes i agree federer will find it tough to win more slams. however, he can still win wimbledon. all he needs is a little luck. then grass is less taxing on the body and reallies are shorter. the schedule of wimbledon is also very player friendly unlike us open. hence i think federer has one more slam in him still. and i hope that he wins the wimbledon title and olympic gold together on grass next year.

Federer will win against any opponent, be it Djoko, Nadal, Murray or Delpo. But the problem with him is that halfway thruogh he loses his focus and become very ordinary. may be that he does not have the killer instinct he had those days.
