Re: My selfish wish by hariharan s on May 25, 2011 04:12 PM Joel Messi had a weak midfield,terrible defense and a clown as a coach(Read my comments below)..most of them betted that Argentina wont go beyond group stage..still they came till QF..bcos other than Heinze header in d 1st match..all d goals scored by argentina had his assist... whereas Portugal had a good defence,,their midfield had a few good players liek Danny,Meireles,Deco..still Ronaldo scored or assisted in only d Korea match,,other than that ..he was totallty invisible in d field... Sachin took d mediocre indian team to semis of 96,and they rewarded him by collapsing after he set d match by scorin 50... Similarly,Messi set up all d goals except one to take Argentina to QF..but their mediocre defense with donkeys like Demichells,Ottamendi allowed d germans to run through... Just like blaming Sachin's performance for India's loss looks absurd..questioning messi's national team record is equally so... He was so inpirational, he lit everyone around him. He did the same when he was with Napoli(half-decent team) and won titles with them. Also,messi is a soft guy unlike maradona..maradona was both a genius at play and a leader at field...he can inspire other teammates to play well... comparing messi and maradona in terms of leadership is like comparing lampard and Gerrard... Both are similar in talent..infact,Lamps is better player than Gerrard,look at his stats...But Lamps complement a team like chelsea,so is giggs for Man Utd... The same team could hve been deadly ahd Cambiasso and Zanetti been in d team.... In fact,Messi frustrated d WC winning spanish defence in a recent friendly...
