These results again show that the format followed in Santhosh trophy is very poor. Out of four semifinalists, three are coming through the qualifying rounds. Assam chose Chattisgarh as their Prequarter opponents being host and Chattisgarh found it lucky to book a Quarter final spot. Whereas Kerala lost to Manipur in Sudden death. Absence of Kerala helped Bengal to reach Semifinal even after losing to TN. It is high time AIFF to diallow any auto matic place in Quarter finals
