free hockey and other sports from govt control..they can easily do better.. like cricket
run them professionally.. quality and viewership both will rise.. leave it to the sponsors to make the sport popular..

a good foreign coach required

A good foreign coach from australia or Germany like rick charlesworth is required with a relatively free hand to change the archaic style and fitness problems without interference from the political IHF . This only can bring back the glory of Indian Hockey and not lose to any tom ,dick and harry . This was successfully seen in cricket with Gary Kirsten.

corrections : Since 1975 world cup. They won the 1980 Olympics by fluke, because of the depleted competition.

Nothing significant other than 1975 World Cup truimp and the 1998 Asiad Gold.
