Madam ji... please help our poor sardars from the Italian mafia... since you yourself are Italian, maybe you can speak to them, and ask them not to treat your loyal servants like this..

Your most obedient servant,
Manmohan Singh (PM of your Indian colony)

International airports have their own norms. With the present situation in the world where terrorists strike anywhere without warning there is nothing wrong in cooperating with the authorities. One can remove the turban and put it back. Afterall I also remove before sleeping and wear it when going out.

nothing special
by Ragida on Mar 15, 2011 11:57 PM  | Hide replies

There is nothing special about sikhs. If they cn see my head, they can also see sikh people's head. Muslim women were wearing pardha and did not want to be photographed and other Hindu women were covering their face in front of "other men." Now that has changed. So this also has to change.

But no biometrics. That is complete violation of privacy and profiling!!

Its is great to know that you are aware that our PM also wears a Turban. But he is a Nincompoop. A boneless man who has no feelings towards his own religion as he is a secular person. Hence do not talk about him are try to get him into this very shameful act on us Indians.

Indian turbans should be well-known to educated people in the world. If the Italians are unaware of it, they have no business to call themselves educated.

No harm in telling anyone to remove anything as long as the person@ the receiving end thinks, it's not a personal vendetta against him. Just step back, if ur ask for a private room, clear the air & bugger off.Just as the persons manning our desi airports gawk @ half-clad foreign women's they gawk at ppl, who wears a cloth@the head. They r also as well educated r even less educated than r desi security persons. No harm whatsoever.

Sikh Nation is a brave nation. Now a days even british forces r tired to controll afghans but its on Sikhs who taught lesson to them. Hari Singh Nalwa won significant victories against the Afghans and was instrumental in capturing Multan, Peshawar, Jamrud and the Khyber pass. In fact he conquered the entire present day West Pakistan. The Pathans and the Afghans suffered a series of defeats against him. So great was his fear among the Afghan Moslems that Afghan mothers would put their children to sleep with the words Raghe hari Singh( Hari Singh is coming). He was certainly the bravest of the brave..

Hari Singh Nalwa was not only the bravest Singh Warrior, but also one of the bravest Indian ever. Unfortunately Indian History books barely cover his military conquests.

Just as Indian History books barely cover the successful foreign campaigns of Rajendra Chola, RajaRaja chola and other kings of Chola/Chera dynasties who ruled over modern day Indonesian islands, Malaysia,Singapore and other South East nations.

Guys, this world is not the same as 20yrs back. Terrorists are finding new ways to kill people. So if you are stopped at a security post for checking, donot make a fuss of it. Just ask for privacy , move to a private location, remove the turban, Burqua or what ever and clear the air and come clean. Don't you all remove the turban when you shower? So what is the deal here. Please cooperate. By the way, the security guys win everytime. So what goes..

the issue are
1) racial/religious profiling
2) there is enough technological advancement to check without asking for removal of turban
3) and if nothing prevails -- atleast offer a private room.

The security guy in Italy or US or UK will NEVER ask an orthodox Jew to remove his skull cap. If he does he and his country's government will have hell to pay. The next day it will be breaking news on CNN, ABC, CNBC...and that country's culture would be babequed on TV for 'Stereotyping' Jews and 'profiling' passengers.

The biggest heat that airport and its government would face, would come not from Israel, but from the US.

Some intelligent preaches in in the above text that "this world is not the same as 20yrs back" and the other "Well said. We live in a different world today". Good...we live in the world of technology. There are other means of security checks/devices. if these checks/devices are not in Italy then i am sorry. How about if your mother or sister is compelled to remove the sari infront of hundreds ....and you watching the scene...Felt embarrsed...Think and make sense MR Intelligents.

What if some one carries an explosive in his or her a$$, Mr. Einstein?

Which is why they have those xray machines that you are made to walk through.

How come the airports in Europe and US have no problem with the Jewish skull caps worn by orthodox Jews?

Dont exaggerate. India's ambassador to the US was asked to step aside to be frisked. She identified herself to the the TSA worker that she is an ambassador and requested to be taken to a room to be frisked/patted down, but that TSA woman went ahead and frisked the ambassador right in public view.

At no point was she asked to remvoe her Saree. We can trust our fellow Indians to sensationlize everything!

After you spread the 'news' that she was asked to remove her saree, another well meaning Indian would spice up the news and put another comment, stating that Ms. Meera Shankar was stripped and moles_ted in public view in a US airport.
