NADAL BETTER THAN FEDERER..............
by Ali M on Jun 21, 2011 11:48 AM  | Hide replies

Looking at the comments below, can any of the fedex fan confirm the top players he had to overcome to win the GSL he has won so far… If fedex is a greatest player of all time than why is dat he cannot win GSL or Masters now… His game has not changed nor his style of playing.. He turned pro in 1998 and won his first grandslam in 2003 by defeating Mark Philippoussis.. dat is after 5 years.. He could not win before 2003 becoz there were better players against whom he could not prove anything. He started to win after 2003 when most of the top players had retired.. at present the players are playing much better than they used to play hence Roger is finding it difficult to win… it is not becoz Federer is not playing wel but bcoz others are playing good.. On the other side Nadal won GSL on debut itself by defeating then no 1 palyer Fedex and Nadal is still winning and defeating all the inform players.. he has tamed Roger federer many times.. Nadal won GSL outside clay by def Roger but Roger won the French open in the absence of Nadal. He could have proved critics wrong by defeating Nadal in this years French open but he lost.. So Nadal is superior than Roger Federer… Nadal will eventually go down to be ONE OF THE GREATES OF ALL TIMES!!!!!!!!!!

@Ali M- as per your superb tennis knowledge, federer has never defeated a top player..ok, so according to u, federer is not that great..but nadal has also defeated those same players and he has also defeated federer(who is not great according to u) ...then hw come nadal is greatest of all times?? after all he has defeated federer and other players who r not that good...so nadal has also no competition right??..have some basic tennis knowledge and then comment about a great player..criticizing anyone is the easiest job in this world..i am sure u r a typical federer hater who never gives credit to federers achivements...thats all..

please don't ridicule yourself by claiming that nadal is superior to federer. alot of players peak late in their careers. they don't start winning everything right off the bat. Federer's game took time to evolve and its happening the same with Djokovic. you can't just blame federer if he rose above the competition to win all the grandslams. he had competition he just got better and better with time. its not federer's fault that nadal failed to come in the french open final in 2009 when federer won. federer is almost 30 yrs old now and he still has enough to beat the top guys. he is not as young as he used to be so it will affect his game. that will happen to every tennis player. it will happen to nadal too maybe sooner than later. I like to see nadal at the age of 30 be in the top 3. Out of 10 grandslam, nadal has won 6 on clay. that's 60% on clay alone. of all 26 head to head matches against federer, they have met 13 times on clay, thats 50% on clay itself. That just proves that nadal is king on clay but not everything else. federer has been able to come in more finals vs nadal on clay than nadal has on grass or hard courts. if nadal had met federer that many times on grass or hard courts than the situation would be completely different. federer is a complete all surface player. nadal isn't.

Thats not right at all frnd u both r missing some key points.
Nadal may not b better dan Fedex in all aspects but he comes up triumph against fedex more dan often.
Nadal do have more challenges compare to Fedex, Likes of Nova, Andy, Petro, and even Soderling was not there when Fedex rulling. However, by no mean we can under estimate Fedex achvmnt, he is proven great of all time and Nadal need to b on top of his game for another 3 yrs before passing fedex.
Huss. Plz check stats, Nadal dominated clay almost 99% against Fedex or any other player but even on other court he is not behind fedex in H2H.
Fedex is called the complete player of all time and i believe so as well but also bcoz he play very conventional Tennis just as Tendulkar in Cricket.
Nadal have beaten Fedex even when he played his best tennis just like Sehwag, who has his way of playing, do nt play conventional such as playing along with ground. he changed the way of playing as similar to Nadal, who has beaten best of best by his own way.
remember what fedex said after RG final... Lots of people surprise how Nadal is winning so much but i m not bcoz he play better than better player when needed.

"Sampras has best serve in tennis so far. He is so far best grass court player. It was almost impossible to break his serve on grass court."
-----------------------------------------------
So far Sampras has the best serve in grass & hard court .....n particularly on Slams.....MOST IMPORTANTLY , the best serve on crucial points....but not on clay & other courts.....
BUT the best ever serve tennis has ever seen is IVO KARLOVIC though he is one of the WORST player :-) ....

just 2 add, though Federer does not have a huge serve , still he has the best service action in tennis so far.....he tosses the ball always at the same height and same direction for all kind of serves.....Few years back, he had the best ever kick serve which he seems to lost that now :-) ....

the best ever spinning serve is of Micheal Stich which even Sampras had said in an interview ....

n the most awkward serve is of nadal though on paper his serve seems to be not that strong....also he is one of the best server on break points like Sampras....

Finally, my selection for best serves on ALL SURFACES are 1.Karlovic 2. nadal 3.joachim johansson ...

I am not following tennis from too long time. I only attracted towards tennis when Federer came. So I don't know about this game technically.

Dont forget these three legends.... At par with Rafa and Fdex
by surya das on Jun 20, 2011 06:52 PM

1.Björn Rune Borg. Between 1974 and 1981 he won 11 Grand Slam singles titles. He won five consecutive Wimbledon singles titles (a record shared with Roger Federer) and six French Open singles titles (a record shared with Rafael Nadal). He is considered to be one of the greatest tennis players of all time.

During his relatively brief pro career, Borg won 41% of the Grand Slam singles tournaments he entered (11 of 27) and 89.81% (141–16) of the Grand Slam singles matches he played, which is an all time record. He also has the highest all surfaces (grass, clay, hard, carpet, court) career match winning percentage of any other male player 82.72% (735/608) (shared with Nadal).

2.Rod Laver was the only player who was World No. 1 player for seven consecutive years, from 1964 to 1970 (from 1964 to 1967 in the professional circuit) . He is the only tennis player to have twice won the Grand Slam (all four major singles titles in the same year) – first as an amateur in 1962 and second as a professional in 1969. He is also the only male player and first player, male or female, to have won the Grand Slam during the open era.

3.Roy Emerson who won 12 Grand Slam singles titles and 16 Grand Slam men's doubles titles. He is the only male player to have won singles and doubles titles at all four Grand Slam tournaments. His 28 Grand Slam titles are an all-time record for a male player.

My View......
by Anurag Rathore on Jun 20, 2011 05:38 PM  | Hide replies

P.Sampras - King of grass courts
R.Nadal - King of clay courts
R.Federer - King of hard courts

But because of Federer dominance and consistency on all types of surfaces, he is best so far and most complete tennis player.

Normally i differ from d people who say Fedex dint play well on clay.
I thnk he is as gud on clay as other courts its just that he cold nt win many slams there and beaten by altime best on clay.

same time why Nadal wont be considered in grass.. last 6 times he appeared in Wembeldon..4 times finalist (2times champion), and 2 times semi-finalist. Out of 4 times, he lost 3 times against Fedex.

Nadal lose matches it is only because of poor first serve. U can see any match how many aces he scored againt any opponent. Same time his first serve is as pathetic as Agassi. That is the reason he lost many finals or semi.

Same time, it is true, if Nadal wont play tennis, then Fedex may ve reached atleast 22 to 24 slams, same time Nadal could ve won 15 or so if Fedex was not there.

Both are truly legends of the game. We should enjoy their play and stop comparing.

WikiPedia Info - "He is the only male player in tennis history to have reached the title match of each Grand Slam tournament at least 5 times. Many sports analysts, tennis critics, and former and current players consider Federer as the greatest tennis player of all time"

Nadal's achievements are no less impressive than Federer. He walked into the Federer era and turned it into the Nadal-Federer era. He might still not be able to emulate Federer's record of 16 grand slams but the fact that he always had an upperhand over the 'best player ever' makes his achievements fabulous.

In times to come, people will say that Federer was the greatest player ever but he consistently lost to Nadal.

the greatest player.. who could never beat the best player of his generation :) that says something isn't.
All you Fed Fans should realize that "Talent is the most over rated" stuff in sports. All the oohs and aahs of the viewers doesn't mean Fed is the best player.. only winning consistently against the Number one player of his era would give Fed the status that he is the better player of his generation - which obviously he is not - leave alone being the GOAT. He never was and never will be - that bubble was burst when Nadal appeared on scene.

lookisay, please correct your statement.."who could never beat the best player of his generation"?? federer has defeated nadal in wimbledon finals..get your facts right and then comment.. the head to head record of nadal is better than federer and currently nadal is better than federer...that doesnt mean federer is not good..you nadal fans never give credit to federer..so i am not surprised..

I will give the credit to Federer for what he is... an exciting player, who has good all round skills and STYLE.. yes STYLE.. leave it at that.
By your logic, Nadal is consistently better than Federer..your "currently" is now 4 years old and is only prolonging.

@lookisay- Another Information for you - "Federer has appeared in an unprecedented 23 career Grand Slam finals, of which 10 were consecutive appearances, and appeared in 18 of 19 finals over the four and a half years from the 2005 Wimbledon Championships through the 2010 Australian Open, excluding the 2008 Australian Open. He holds the record of reaching the semifinals or better of 23 consecutive Grand Slam tournaments over five and a half years from the 2004 Wimbledon Championships through the 2010 Australian Open." If one will not be called as the greatest ever after achieving this, then I think u don't have any knowledge of Tennis as well as you don't have any respect for Fedex.

You are mistaken and hero worshipping.
I have huge respect for Federer. But he is not better than Nadal - simple as that.
All his reaching finals means nothing unless he defeats Nadal - btw I am no bigger fan of Nadal than Federer. I like Federer's style of play but he is not the GOAT. Nadal is better than Federer.

Dear friend lookisay, I dont believe that u r giving your comments being neutral. If Fedex not the GOAT then is Nadal then the All time great. It is NOOOO. Nadal too is a great player & have booked his name in the history. But just look at the records of Federer. It is unbelievable. It will take an astonishing & phenomenal effort for someone else to reach 22 consecutive grand slam finals & winning 16 of them. Just watch out for his forthcoming games.

you have to consider the age factor also...federer is not getting any younger but still beating the top players is no less and see the last few months of Nadal loosing to Nole in 4 ATP finals...that also means nadals top position is very much under threat and he shuld rather thank federer for keeping it..get a life u idiot
