Does anyone really care about Indian football?
by sandeep kumar on Jul 11, 2011 04:34 PM  | Hide replies

Draw match? tha too against maldives which is probably smaller than my city bengaluru?? Wow..and still rediff reports as if its something great. Not a soul watches Indian football, and its pathetic at it, so why bother reporting? Lets stick to sports that we good at: cricket, shuttle and shooting. Saina is no2, and most importantly, Team india is no1 in tests and worls champs this year. And a weak team recently won both test and odis in windies. And there is a cracker of a series to follow against Eng. The hype should be for that, not for some friendly against no-names like Maldives, myanmar, bhutan etc!

There are many news across the board involving different subjects. If one doesn't like a particular topic there's always an option to stay out.

In india there's a set of people who earn their living by playing football and another set by directly/indirectly supporting it(the coaches, masseures, groundsmen, sports goods makers, the hawkers who sell their stuffs in the football grounds).

Also some people still watch indian football(an east bengal - mohun bagan match in kolkata still draws 1 lakh people in the ground and few million on tv).So let it be the way it is.

@Sandeep kumar.... Please learn to respect other sports as well, cricket is only played by a mere 10 countries competitively, were as football is played by all the nations in the world against each other, cricket is nothing in front of football which has the largest fan following in this world, and though India dos not play football well like brazil or spain, we still do have a team, and in a country where football is followed the second most sport after cricket, people will obviously want to read articles related to our matches.....the present youth in india has interest now in football more than cricket and time will come when India becomes a football power-house...
