Silly
by aftab alam on Jul 04, 2011 03:31 PM

This is nothing to do with Nova finale, Nadal completly beaten.
I just wanna make one point, Again some people started writing off Nadal after one lost.
The same write him off after every time he lost to Nova this year.
Just few points, except one tournament, Nadal reach every final and he lost it to only one man Nova who is beating every one.
He doesnt need our support to called as great, he is proven one and accepted by all.
He accepted defeat with grace and so i even though i m hurted.
He had come back in past and i do nt have a shadow of a doubt that he will come back.

Congrats to Nova
by aftab alam on Jul 04, 2011 03:20 PM

Congrats to Nova for beating The great champ Rafa.
I m disappointed but accepting defeat as we beaten by better player of the season.
Nova played well not his best but still beat nadal that shows his class, Nadal had his own chances, After winning 3rd set, Rafa shd have broke Nova in 4th set early but he missed it and thats what prooved costyl 4 him.
That was the time Nova were struggling and he hold his srve thats at end was very very crucial.
Nova is very different player when he lead the serve and when he follow serve.
he won 3 set an in all he was leading service, in one set he was following and he lost that.
U never know, 2 set all and it could have any1 game.
But i must say, people praise Nadal 4 his court coverage but currently Nova is covering court in a better way.
If he can hold his fitness, can dominate the games for sum time.
Congrats Nova and Hard luck Rafa.
Champ will b back again.
Vamos Rafa

New tennis era

has dawned in men's tennis.
Novak Djokovic is in red hot form. He has got
2 of the 4 grandslam majors this year.
It is no more Rafa vs Federerr. It is Novak vs rest.

How true! It is certainly novak vs the rest! Federer has rather coped well without his aura. Now lets see how rafa copes with his no-longer-invincible tag. It wouldnt be long before someone else also pull up with Novak and relegate nadal and federer. Also people, it is interesting to note that nadal hardly maintains his no 1 ranking. He has seldom played 12 months at the same level. His injuries keep coming in and miraculously healing just as soon as they conveniently appear.

What could be the reason that Nadal has NEVER defended a slam except at the red dirt? WELL, he is truly a clay king. Oh I almost forgot, HE WAS... he WAS... his win at RG looks hollow, almost an aberration.

Nadal is the biggest competitor the game has ever seen. He has maximized his potential. One needs to give credit to him for what he has achieved at age of 25.

well, wait and watch until the end of the year.. biggest competitor? whatever that means... u sould like aishwarya patil. it is a rather difficult thing to say if it is an insult to u or to ms patil. nadal needed luck to win french open... novak would have made him run run and run.. Tough luck that federer had to play djokovic and nadal one after the other. Lucky nadal. he had incredibly lucky draws in 2010 wimbledon and us open. the manacor matador whatever has been outrun. outgunned, outhit, outlasted and outmanouvered when he is at his peak. it is only a decline from now on.

Many people said tiger woods would catch up with Mikelson. It looked very very probable. Nadal will never be no1 again.

A Fantastic Victory
by aishwarya patil on Jul 04, 2011 10:04 AM  | Hide replies

Congratulations to Djokovic on a most fantastic victory. The most wonderful thing about the match was, that Djokovic beat Nadal in his own game. Most players would strategise before facing Nadal: Try to cut the points short; Do not engage in long rallies; Don't feed short balls to him; Avoid his forehand etc. etc. But Djokovic engaged him in rallies, attacked him on his forehand side, and still won. He could do it, because he genuinely believed he could do it!
Another thing that was obvious to me was, that the level of the game was such, that Federer could not match it. There lies the greatness of Federer: We cannot stop discussing him.
Djokovic has bared the secret of his success for all: it is greater attention to nutrition, and a strict fitness regime. Physical and mental fitness is what international sport is all about. The beaten ones should stop cribbing, and work harder on their fitness.
And finally a word for the know-all bango tango. He believes that one has to take steroids to be able to play like Nadal. Now that Djokovic has beaten Nadal, playing his own game; I wonder if he is going to enlighten us about the possibility of Djokovic too taking steroids.

"Another thing that was obvious to me was, that the level of the game was such, that Federer could not match it".

Whats the point in dragging Federer in all this ??

Secondly, don't try to belittle Djokovic's victory by saying unkind things ....

It was not difficult to visualise Federer in place of Djokovic in front of Nadal. He would have simply caved in.
Even Vijay Amritraj agreed that Nadal and Djokovic sharing the first two spots was a worrisome prospect for Federer. Most experts agree that in coming days, Nadal and Djokovic shall be fighting for the Top spot, while Federer shall be struggling to retain his no. 3 position. Please read some British Newspapers on-line.

Yeah its now the british tabloids eh? nobody s speculating or writing off federer. In almost every article federer is associated as being the only man to take out the serb. IF it were federer in the finals etc is dumb assumptions. Last year Rafa swept through most majors. Now he is not able to defend them. The same happened with federer in 09. he couldnt repeat it in 2010. 2011 is the coming-of-age of nole and for sure he is here to stay if he plays like the way he plays. But there is no guarantee that he will win everything and rafa will lose in every finals thereby cementing world no 2. THIS WIMBLEDON nadal, federer and novak ALL three HAD the chance to become no1. That means it is a three way race. Nadal will drop points at the US open and hard court season and if federer picks up, nadal could be in the 3rd. Lets face it that Federer is the healthiest of the three. He has been there done that and has LASTED. Nadal has NEVER EVER played a FULL season at the same level. Clay King...

Nonsense Again aishwarya!! Silly to bring in steroids and Federer. I remember nadal backers making a point of 'luck' when federer won roland garros because nadal was "injured" in 2009 French Open. Similar logic is equally and irrefutably applicable to say that because federer bettered Djokovic in the semis of 2011 Roland Garros, Nadal was "lucky" to win it? Any takers? Sounds ridiculous but true. NADAL HAS NEVER DEFENDED A non -french GRANDSLAM event. He will finish no 3 in the world at the end of the season. Only player to beat djokovic in his last 50 games is federer me thinks! You brought federer needlessly into this silly argument. Grow up and own up to the failings of Nadal as a true fan. Nadal has taken 3 sets in the last 5 matches he played with novak. And federer has taken that many sets in one match in a grand SLAM!

Also u conveniently fail to mention the miraculous healings of nadal s foot injury. If Nadal was fit enough to play the point against Del Potro WHEN HE WAS AT SET POINT, what nonsensical argument holds water that he coudnt play the tie breaker without taking a "legitimate" 8 min short " 'injury' " timeout. HE did the same with Petzschner last year. Wait until murray grows up to better rafa and Delpotro already has rafa running around like a squirrel.. LOL

Good observations. Rafa has had difficulties with players who hit the ball hard and deep in to both corners. Even Del potro has the game to beat him.
People like Novak, Del Potro and Tsonga will be the biggest challengers for Nadal in days to come.

Djojovic reaches summit .....
by Hooter on Jul 04, 2011 09:50 AM  | Hide replies

Djokovic finally reaches the summit ….

Men’s tennis gets really interesting now with top 3 players going at each other and the sheer quality of men’s tennis is quite thrilling.

Federer has attained greatness and is up there but his game is declining may be due to age factor. Nadal is definitely among the greats with 10 grand slams under his belt … at the age of 25 ! And here comes Djokovic ….

Murrays, Tsongas and Del Potros are all knocking at the door consistently. If the top 3 ever let their guard down, these guys will gobble them up ! Very fascinating.

Federer’s game was almost perfect with his one-handed backhand was a gift to tennis. Nadal has worked his game in such way that it becomes difficult for others to deal with but it is also very taxing on him and he breaks down invariably. If he is fit, nobody can stop him. And Djokovic is a treat to watch and he has that stamina to beat Nadal. Court coverage of both guys is excellent.

Mind games … Nadal is inside Fed’s mind and Djoko is inside Nadal’s …. What more a tennis fan can ask for ??

This is the end for Nadal and the beginning of Novak era
by husshez@rediffmail.com on Jul 04, 2011 07:51 AM

Novak has truly dominated this year. eight titles and counting. That's unbelievable. He is on course to tie or beat federer's 12 titles in one year that he had achieved in his prime. Novak has peaked at the right time. and Roger federer peaked at the exact same age. I feel that the domination Roger federer showed, Novak is headed in the same path. The style with which Nadal plays, his dominance would not last long anyways. Nadal has dominated only 2 yrs 2008 and 2010. Nadal was overshadowed by Roger Federer dominance in tennis and now its the turn of Novak Djokavic dominance to overshadow Nadal. Congrats to Novak for winning Wimbledon and getting the No.1 ranking. If anyone can stop Novak, its not Nadal, its the legend Roger Federer. He is only one that has beaten Novak this year and he can do it again.

Federer's fools are Novak's converts now.

They have no loyalty, they are like w.h.o.r.e.s who will sleep with anyone on any day.

Right now these Federer fools are Novak converts and will support any player who stops Rafa so Federer's 16 slams stay in tact. To these fools, its Rafa v. Rest of the world.
