Well Done
by JORIS UMMACHERIL on Jan 31, 2011 04:35 PM

This is the first time Lee & Hesh are playing as a team since so long. Though I agree that the mutual understanding is not as good as it was to be. But if they play together for longer time, I am sure that the Indian Express are going to be No 1 again

what a sham

Doubles tennis is no sport. Its just like some exhibition match and certainly Paes and bhupati are not representing india, although the indian media seems to think so.They are playing for the few thousand dollars they might earn for participating.
Meanwhile these grand slams, lets these jokers play because of the crazy tv audience in india who watches doubles and mixed doubles.

Really? Wow .. how come no one else in the world realize that and stop conducting doubles tournaments? If you every played tennis or any sport in your life (which i doubt) you won't make such comment .

Too Good At Making Excuses
by SUBROTO RAY on Jan 30, 2011 12:53 PM  | Hide replies

After getting beaten hollow and washed out in the Aus open our great Indian tennis duo made a comment "when you have an opponent who have 81% of their first service in you cant beat them bla bla bla". Dear friend its high time you stop making excuses. Tennis is a game won on services.By your own admission you appear to be saying you are incapable of having your first service in as many times (you had only a poor 64% for records). Also your services had fallen a good 40 kmh slower than your opponents. Kudos you have again shown how good we indians are at making excuses and go gaga at beating weak opponents. Get more humble and admissive with your comments at least if you dont possess the requisite combative skill instead of blurting out lame excuses hoping to net some buyers with it.

well said subroto, these two jokers dont have the ability to play in singles event, & play doubles which is shunned by the top players. i wonder whether these two can even beat some of the top women players in singles matches.

Let us appreciate their performance, look at their age and how they are performing even at this age. they have brought laurels to INDIA and won many Slam titles.

So just one defeat should not make us blast them rudely. Let us salute them for their tremendous feats over the years for INDIA. aLL KUDOS TO them!!

for these guys. Despite talent they didn't play together for 10 years for some egoistic reasons. They cud have won 10-15 Grand slams in this period to India's glory. They are just individuals and Indians have not much to do with their success.

The westerners have a clear physical advantage, both in terms of built and stamina. Clijsters match was a classic example; by the middle of the second set, Li Na was worn out physically. At the end of that set, she was mentally worn out as well.
The Bryan brothers served a whole lot more aces than the one or two that lee-hesh served. The ground-strokes were killers!

David, we are comparing tow teams with different age groups. Bryan brothers is in early 30s and paes-bhupathi is in late 30s. So going by your logic, when they won the championships, did that mean that westerners did not have the physical advantage then ? They just started playing together again. You need to take things into perspective before professing the myths you hold dear.

Shouldnt it be a shame to India that we did not value or provide facilities to such talented players ? Paes father had to get discarded shoes for his son to play wimbledon. You should learn to appreciate their success inspite of indian sports setup. Cricketers have it easy in India.

If I offended anyone, I apologize. I am equally proud of Lee-Hesh being in the finals as also their brave-heart attitude. I was just highlighting the frailities of Asians, physically. Tennis, unlike cricket, can be quite exhausting, even for doubles. playing 2-3 hours all by oneself (they'd have run 30-40 km) is no small feat. divide that by 6/11 players with almost no running and you'll know what I was hinting at

You hold a myth that asians dont meet stamina requirements. If that was true, paes and bhupathi would not have been the No 1 team at some point. Age is a big factor in tennis. You would know if you ever played it or even if you follow the game.

It takes a lot to even get to a Grand Slam final, friend.
Its no mean feat !
When the whole of India is proud of them and you are not, means that you are not a true Indian.
Sorry, but be sporty.
