Federer Vs Djokovic
by aishwarya patil on Jan 27, 2011 09:16 AM  | Hide replies

There is no denying the fact that Federer at his best is the best of them all, but the problem is that he cannot play at his best for long periods. In this tournament itself, Federer has played extraordinary one day, and ordinary the next day. By this pattern, it is his turn to play an ordinary match today. Djokovic (and for that matter even Nadal) even if playing at his best cannot match Federer at his best, but Federer's own inconsistency gives him a chance.
Djokovic at his best is about 80% of Federer at his best, but he can play at his best for 3 hours, whereas Federer has intermittent lapses wherein he loses serves without his opponents having to do anything spectacular.
My money therefore will be on Djokovic.
And by the way Djokovic is 13/8 and Federer is 4/9 favorite to win. Any takers?

Like some one has said on his blog available at AO website, sooner or later, Federer has to give way to the younger generation, and Djokovic has to start dominating Federer. I think that time has come.
I guess it is all right. Federer has already got more than a single individual can keep. He should not mind in losing to hard-working players other than Nadal. Federer will absorb it, but his irrational fans, who think, and would want others to think that he is some kind of a God, will have a tough time assimilating this simple truth.

From the kind os form displayed by both the players, Djokovic has to be treated as the favorite to play Rafa in the final, where of course he will lose in straight sets.

Rafa has to first defeat Ferrer nad then Murray perhaps to reach the final. He was ill few weeks back. Semis with Murray will not be a cakewalk since Murray is in the form of his life. How about, say Murray vs. Djokovic? Being a Federer fan offcourse I would love to see Fed win his 17th

You are right. Murray is a tough proposition, but if Nadal is fit, all Murray can do is, fight.

After watching Djokovic v. Berdych match, I expect a Nadal-Djokovic's final.

I have not watched Murray in this tournament, but Rafa is a more determined player and I think Rafa can beat Ferrer, Murray and Djokovic.

Dolgopolov is an exciting young prospect too and don't write him off against Murray.
