Indian soccer team was playing worse than european D grade teams. If Chetri is our best player; he made n no of bad passes; none of Indian player could match Baharin or Aus players in trms of physical strength or strategy.
This way Indian Soccer is not going anywhere but stay at bottom
Indian football was virtually killed by P.Dasmunshi in the last three decades with his sole aim of reducing this to an all Bengal show. Cricket came out of Mumbai's shadow in 2000, but Indian football was not so fortunate. Football and footballers thrives on the support of the masses. It gives a new lease of life to many impoverished kids in most of the countries. It needs no expensive kit for the beginners. Unless the Indian F.A. understands this and takes the game to the masses who make a serious career out of it due to desperation and compulsion, we will not achieve even the Asian standard!

Football is the game of masses in most of east India. It just needs better coaching, infrastructures and experience against higher ranked teams. There is no point in building stadiums in Delhi, Mumbai where hardly any local team of repute exists.

indians need to play more as an 'indian' team than as club teams (east bengal, mohun bagan etc.).
Plus, they need foreign tours to gain better experience.
India used to be a good soccer nation in Asia sometime back. So talent doesn't look like the problem, lack of killer instinct and complacency do.
