bother....! if you consider the average hight of the european or south amrican teams..it will be well above 6ft. And what they lack in height they make up in stamina...! unlike us indians who are better of sending thier chlidren to stand on the outfield and stop a four or a six after eating a couple of Chapatis or idlies. What a pity.
how is it that the same indians defeated the iranians, australians before in the the golden period of indian soccer? what b.s. are losers trying to sell here? so there is no standard anymore and we are discussing a very passionate game for all of us football fans with such trivialities...
Does any Indian organization have data of Indians who are 61/2 to 7ft tall aged bewteen 15-19yrs. If we can find atleast 1000-5000 in one billion, we can form a good volleyball, football, basketball, swimming and even Kabbadi teams which can be world beaters. But these people should be paid like IPL cricketers

For most Indians who thinks Korean Chinese Japanese are short in height, clarify your misconception. Just google a bit and you will know that
The average height of South Korean males is 173.6 which is tallest in Asia.

but guys.. is futbol only about height.. no its about the talent any individual and a team can have to beat anyother team in the world.. so instead of talking about height lets discuss something about the talent and the opportunities...

absolutely agree. talking about height is just an excuse. We have so many example that talent wins over anything else. Maradona, Messi, even our very own Tendulakar are short in height. but they become world class due to only talents.
The fact that all of us are concerned about our team inspires me with hope. Height, though an asset in defence, is not always decisive in attack. Fitness and technique are far more vital in football. These qualities, have to be built in young children in an environment where their education and well being (including NUTRITION) are taken care of completely. The progress of a child therefore, takes years to complete. This is not a "push-button" solution, but a "large scale", "continuous" and "patient" exercise involving clubs, corporates, the government and most importantly, "us", the people. If small, poor and unstable countries like the Ivory Coast, Ecuador, Iraq and North Korea can do well, why can we, being a large and stable economic powerhouse not have reason to hope? JUST BELIEVE PLEASE.
If every beady knows the Korea & China team in Football. They are not more than Indian People height. So only require to take interest in Football to Play, Watch & anchorage to our child or player to ready for the next world cup.
I am also Only Indian who now Dream for my Child & give him every thing to play & make a history for the World Cup 2022 in Qatar. (Now he is only 7year. But i know i will do every thing for him to play the World cu in Football.

Almost all Chinese and Korean soccer players are above 6 ft. Don't generalize the matter. Just remember that Yao Ming of China is the tallest basketball player in the world. The point is to search for talented youngsters with the required physique and develop them into class players. As far as I can remeber, Joe Paul Anchery from Kerala was the only Indian player who could match any international player in physical battles, because of his burly physique.
indian team should now focus on next 2 matches. it is not time to be navel gazing now.
middle east teams are all losing to asian ones in this tournament this week. so no reason india should not defeat Bahrain. Go all out for win ! s.korea india score prediction is 2-0 skorea win. well if it is so close, no reason it shouldnt be 1-0 India win ! so cmon Indiaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! (if we have sport prodigies like sachin tendulkar, Vish Anand in chess, Saina in badminton, Vijender in boxing etc...no reason we shouldnt have a Maradona/Pele in football !!!) cmon indiaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Forget Sachin, cricket is played seriously by 9 countries. It's like saying we are world champions in Kabaddi.... who cares about these games.? The best example is Vijender and Indian boxing team. all other sports in India should take inspiration from Indian boxing team.

Go and visit a cricket stadium or just visit your friends when a cricket match is on and you would know how many people care about cricket. It is not about how many countries play it, it is about the quality of the game being played. We need to appreciate people like tendulkar who gave us glory rather than belittle their achievements.

Again, i live in kolkata where football is a passion and footballers are well paid and looked after by their clubs. These guys are sent to world cups to watch the soccer starts in action, but they hardly learn, they merely enjoy and come back. It is purely a lack of attitude and skill. These guys are content to play for mohan bagan or east bengal and their life's ambition is fullfilled. First let them improve and start winning games, then you would see an increase in the fan following in india.

Our Government is just like the Franchisies of IPL.They will only invest money to those who will pay them back. They will not "WASTE" money for any game like Football or so,but will invest in Crores for any District Academy of Cricket. They only think of earning it back.....
height is definitely a factor for positions such as central defender and the goalkeeper to counter arial balls, but for forwards and attacking midfielders not much, as what matters are skill, ball control and technique in this case. height for a forward may factor when he's used as a target man(for heading in the ball) for crosses from the wings/midfield. Also it depends on the playing style of the team, while playing a physical counter-attacking game it is beneficial to have tall players who can win headers. Indians given their short stature, maybe better off learning short-passing possession football of which the Spanish are the best exponents as they beat physically better teams at the last wc, but for such a team you need a no. of highly technically skilled and creative players. India now seem to lack both technique and physicality.Technique is best groomed through focusing on the football at the grassroots, scouting and finding the best talent, establishing training centers, grounds/stadiums and other basic infrastructure to groom young talent. Physicality and height may too improve down the years as the Indian diet changes for better. The marketing strategy of the Indian football association should change too, they should wake up to the challenge and use the capital intensive economic system in India to make football popular and the revenue generated will in turn improve the competitiveness of the domestic league and the quality of the domestic clubs. -sg
Indian's lack in execution and competiveness. In Arsenal team Frabigras, Walcot and in Barcelona messi, xavi, innesta are not tall guys but they perform well.
these loonies are good for nothing. They lay back and continue to release nonsense statements like these. Hang these traitors. This is India, not Uganda, you pakis
