1982 Brazil team was the best team in World cup football history though they did not win the World Cup. Again the classy Brazil could not make it to the semis in 1986. In both occasions doctor Socrates was the brain and play maker of the Brazil team. After that Brazil considerably changed their game, replacing free flowing and smooth short one-touch passes to European style power game.
Now, we can see those one-touch short passing game in Spain.
Socrates during his days one of best footballers of all time. He excelled in half line and was not afraid to attack should the need arise. an excellent play maker he will be missed long time after he is gone. May his soul rest in peace..

Very sad to know that Dr. is no more, I saw him playing in 1986 along side zico. He missed the pleanty in pleanty shoot out, but they played very well.
I had the privilege of seeing Socrates play in his last World Cup on TV when France beat Brazil in the tie-breaker. He was a great player who played alongside the greats like Zico and others. Sad to know that he is no more. My condolence to his bereaved family and the people of Brazil. Socorro Mascarenhas Mira Road, Mumbai.
