not many takers
by Aryan on Aug 31, 2011 09:24 PM  | Hide replies

in a cricket mad nation, there won't be many takers for Messi..
Indeed he is a great player but in India nothing other than cricket sells....
Also I do not think the facilities available in our country for football will inspire any youngsters to take to the game.

Messi will come and go, but what's the point??? Other than a few more crores of burden on the exchequer I do not think it is going to server any purpose... India's position in football will remain the same if not go down owing to the lacklustre facilities, inclement weather and poor quality players whose physical fitness is next to nil compared to their international counterparts...

Is He good? I only watch World Cup and I think Spainsh guys are too good. They gel like a football unit. Also, if he is that good may be he is too young else he might have won world cup for Argentina.

Indeed Messi is a good footballer but not versatile,he has scored only for his club Barca and brought glory,he never scored for Argentina in World cup & Copa America,in World cup 2010 they were humilited badly 0-4 by Germany,he is total flop playing for his country,on the other hand Diego forlan(Uruguay) has performed for his club n country,i place him above Messi.....Messi $ucks.

Request you to do a better analysis before comparing two great footballers. No doubt Forlan is a good footballer, but you are writting off Messi only because Argentina lost world cup match to Germany. Dude it was a collective failure. If you do an analysis on the skill set of these two players you will get the answer.

Diego forlan won europa cup with Athletico madrid in 2010,same year he steered Uruguay 2 SF of WC,in 2011 he steered Uruguay 2 Copa America win,so he has performed in all the tournament, whereas Messi is only performed 4 Barca at CL.

Messi is far more popular in the sports world than 99 centuries of Sachin.

Messin in Kolkata - Good thing for Indian football...
by Tamil Arasan on Aug 31, 2011 05:14 PM

How great if we have players like Messi caliber play for our country...I have seen some kids play great football for Indian under 16 team and they are in equal par with other football playing nation in talent, but later because of our corrupt football setup those talents are not nurtured... Biggest looter Praful Patel (central minister) is the head of Football body in India, and his daughter even diverted an Indian Airlines plane for her will to accommodating IPL tournament for her personal gains.....
