knuckle head rule

The 1 fault disco rule is the most stupidest rule that can be conceived by any sports admin body.

I am sure none in IAAF rules committe have run a single 100 mts in their lives, to know how it feels at a start.

Look at it from a larger perspective. World championship is an annual event. Athletes prepare for a full year to make a mark. Fans wait for it like a state fair. Athletes travel across the globe to the event, beat the jet-lag, do the last minute preparation. After all this, imagine getting disqualified? due to a stupid rule. It is not like the false starting athlete is going to get an unfair advantage. They just have to restart the race, which may take an additional 10 minutes. If the admins think this is a waste of time, compare this to the wastage of all things leading to the event.

We fans are more than willing to wait that 10 minutes to see our star athletes perform, than to see them disqualified. Then we shut the TV off, or go back home from the stadium, because of a stupid rule.

No body benefits from this rule. But I am sure everybody loses something: Athletes lose an oppurtunity to showcase their talent and year-long training, Fans lose interest in that event from then on, Sponsors lose their money. And the grey-heads in the governing body stick to their stupid rule.

Btw, how did they form this rule? Did they ask the athletes? or sponsors, or fans. Who are these idiots to decide what is good for the sport?

These new advertisements by Rediff is such a put off. Covers the whole page and we cant even click on a "close" icon. I think I am going to stop using Rediff. Very very annoying.

Its worth a second chance !

"The no-second-chances rule was introduced by the world's governing body in an attempt to speed up the sport for television and make it more attractive to spectators" - These guys have hard worked years in practice for this chance and being a human we all are prone to tension during these critical moments. So I strongly supporting of giving a second chance for the spirit of game (and not for merely for television and spectators)

When will cricket be included in the Olympics? Dhoni has only that achievement left. He has conquered everything else.
