There are better B Butias in every street in Europe and South America. He is just an avg player but nevertheless did well for India. Shuld start an academy and promote this sport.

European kids get scholarship and get trained in academy at d age of 10...by the time, they reach 17,they're taught every skill in football and then they play for clubs...

Bhutia came from a little known state called Sikkim in a country where cricket is d only match people play, watch and live and still played in an European team..

Its easy to criticize others..Now tell me what the faq have u done to belittle him???

A last grader in IIT is far better than a first rank rank holder from Alamelu College of Engineering, Gundalpet. So with Bhaichung Bhutia and Sachin.

If thats d case, the IITian had a rich father, never did any house work other than studying...father paid a lot for his entrance fees

while the ALamelu college student was very poor,he had to work and study...had to support his brothers and sister...never attended any coaching class..and got a seat without any quota...

If u compare Bhutia to that kid,then I can agree.....If u talk like that..what did u do???
Did u get seat in IIT or Alamelu College inspite of father earning well???

Are IITs really that superior? I mean we are told they are - but what is the product evidence that they are? Have IITians set up even one industry to compete with say the Japs/Germans/South Koreans etc?

I mean I have heard about these superhuman IIT students all my life - but where is the hard evidence of their achievements?

I am saying don't sell the first grader at Alamelu short... In fact don't sell anyone short.

For example Soichiro Honda had no formal education. However I would put him ahead of any IIT engineer when it came to designing engines or things mechanical.

Formal education in engineering is vastly overrated.

Now back to football.....

Some guys never give credit to anyone other than cricket..Its true that Indian footballers are not world class like Messi,Ronaldo etc..

But looking the facilities, money, encouragement, sponsorships they get...Indian footballers get none,in fact,Dhoni was a former goalkeeper who changed to wicketkeeping...

Finding such a player in such conditions is rare and should be encouraged..not be scorned upon..

If a watchman's son gets 85% marks in 12th inspite of no coaching and no facility to study...
U cannot say that his marks are nothing before the other high class students who got 95%...
Truth is that this kid could have got even more had he got better coaching and more time to study

Bhutia may be good. But Vijayan was the best. Bhutia just a goal scorer. But Vijayan can make & score goals.Vijayan was a complete footballer. India won lot of matches agt. foreign teams because of Vijayan. So for me I.M.Vijayan the best.
