The Indian President can open the National Games open(If India had one). CWG is an international event. Tradition has that the head of the Common Wealth (The Queen of England) declares the games open. As she could not make it to Delhi, she has asked her son (Who will succeed her as head of Common Wealth) to represent her. India should accept this and not make a big issue out of it. This has noting to do with pride or Indian constitutional protocol. Remember it was the International Olympic Comitte president who declared the Beijing olympics open and not the President of China. This is international protocol. If the Indian constitution disagres with international protocols then we only have 2 options. 1. Amend the Indian constitution and 2. Don't host international events
So stop all this nonsense about who would open the games in Delhi.

I think you are wrong. As per the CWG rules, and as per the protocol, after the queen, it is the president who gets to do it. If queen says she is busy, she can not send a tom, dick and harry to take her role. Prince Charles is not the queen. I am not a fan of our president. But she is the president of the country and as per the rules, she is the one who has to open the games.
