Chinese efficiency in our democracy

Good comments by B Raman. But how do we get the Chinese efficiency in our democracy. May be involving army personnel in these kinds of events. Remember how well the Golden Quadrilateral highway project was executed by retd. Maj Gen B C Khanduri.

You are absolutely right. Some of the important things associated with the games should have been handled by former Lt. Generals and Maj. Generals, who are corrupt free and care for the nation's pride.

wait, we will see many more mess-ups. God save the particiants. If a bridge collapsedor a false seiling gave off what is the gaurantee that more structures will not fail. I am concerned that there will be casualities soon, which will be the worst hit to the national pride, if any

In India, for getting a bribe of rs.100 persons are jailed, whereas, if the bribe, corruption goes to crores, nothing happens and even if due to public, media pressure some action is to be taken, it will be commissions or court actions.Hence , people like Suresh Kalmadi, will walk thru media like a hero. Penal code is tobe changed, since punishments, fine are of some 1900's code. For a corruption of crores, punishment ceiling will be very very low and the person caught will enjoy all the money and will also enjoy in jail too. Confiscation of the entire property of the family, benamis, jail term for life for the family, may have an effect .

Those who have power to bring this legislation are the ones who are benifitting the most from this open corruption. The sleeping public MUST WAKE UP.

one more point.
by ANAND SANTHANAM on Sep 28, 2010 09:58 AM  | Hide replies

To add one more point is spineless media who is making fuss of what's not there and not giving the public a picture of whats good.

the facilities in most of the stadiums are world class.

the apartments pictures are 30 days old and if any one buys a house from even the best of builders we know that until the keys are handed ocer the state is the same.

These spineless media reporters dont have a clue as most of the participants have given a thumbs up for the venue

People its for us to stand up and support the organisers in making this event a great success.

For a Man who was a IPS officer to question national pride is sad Doesnt he know how govt works Tell him to state how many mega projects since 1947 were completed on time? Did any one question national pride of individuals? I am not defending people but I am forced to ask does the writer have national pride when he pens an article of this nature at this time?

Is that enough justification for being late in completion of all projects "how govt works Tell him to state how many mega projects since 1947 were completed on time?" ???? Should not this be an example for attitude change and be world class?

It is not justification at any cost But that is how babudom works in our country Nexus between politicians, babus and contractors is well known to the author who was a senior govt servant till some time back. What does he mean by talking about national pride? Does it exist only for CWG? article comes out at a time when TV channels are showing defects day in day out without showing better things about CWG He could have done the post-mortem after the games, with title PRIDE LOST FOR POLITICIANS AND BUREAUCRACY

Mr. Ramesh, Kalmadi and others have looted public money and if Mr. Raman highlights such issues, you think it is not right. Take a break. His comments on security is an important one and we cannot just and watch mismanagement and malpractices. After the event, these things would be swept under carpet.

Mr Sowri Rajan,Mr Kalmadi looting money is not proved Let us be fair,to him also Kalmadi has stated that he wants an enquiry to clear his name Let us wait and not prejudge and go by TV channels propaganda(I am not defending or accusing him) Raman was a RAW man they will talk only on security, which I am sure his agency and IB,Delhi police is aware of. Nothing sensational about it. In the final analysis what did he contribute? Like all TV channels curse. Timing of the article was and still I say was bad Instead of salvaging we go on criticising .Criticising for what? We and he knows how things work here.Try to salvge pride if we cant let us keep quiet till games are over

Delhi as a Venue was the Spoiler!!!
by motor mouth on Sep 28, 2010 09:54 AM  | Hide replies

The CWG was a no-show from the moment Delhi was chosen as the venue. Citizens of Delhi are one of the most corrupt, repulsive and ill-mannered people you'd ever come across in the country. Adding salt to the insult is the incompetent Congress govt headed by Mr. MMS who has sold his nutttts to the royal Italian highness. Mr. Suresh Kalmadi has shown the world a new low in corruption. No wonder India was conquered and plundered by so many foreign invaders. The CWG is a classic example highlighting that incompetence and treachery runs deep in Indians blood.

Very true. Delhi does not belong to any one and that is the attitude shown by the residents of Delhi. Nothing matters to them except giving and taking bribes.

It is not that people of Delhi are more corrupt it is plethora of departments, which run Delhi (MCD,NDMC,DELHI GOVT,UNION GOVT MINISTRIES ETC) All run delhi and screw up,delay corruption and political interference, all add up Look at Metro Sreedharan said he will report to only one boss and see the result
