.It has been a learning experience for organising big sports event .Lot of world class sports facilities have come up in India .Whole lot of industry benefitted from organising this event which include:Cement, steel, automobile, glass, furnitures, electrical, sports goods, etc. .Thousands of poor people got temporary employment during various stages upto cleaning toilets, atleast for some days they had bread and vegetables in their house. .9 atheletes pulled out,out of 7600,in % that is nothing. Some of them were really injured .Tourism industry got a big boost .Country's sports environment has got an upliftment .India will now be able to bid for olympics. There is no limit, how much benefit India got out of the CWG. .FDI will further increase.. Corruption charges should be thoroughly investigated and corrupts should be brought to task after the event is over... I am sure CWG will be a grand success, all Indians can unite now to support for the success of the mega event.. We need not feel so shy or ashamed as we are aware of our national character, just we should take it as a lesson to improve..no single Kalmadi is a criminal, its the fault of the entire system...

by mohammed ulhaq on Sep 26, 2010 06:36 PM
I dont know which country you belong to, but one thing for sure you are brought up with no scent of challenges. You people get everything on platter and brag upon it. We are born with courage and will keep our Jihad (Struggle) towards improvement of our nation. We atleast have some goal towards which we all are working together (Along with the corrupt politicians) but you seem to be busy putting your pants down every night and check whether you have ba11s.
Being only a chairman does not absolve you of your responsibility to deliver clean venues in timely manner. You are just a shameless guy when you shift your blame on to construction company for doing a shoddy job. Shame on you.
Suresh Kalmadi has now feeling to say that he is contented even after so much of Misdeeds. It is clear from this everyone in the controls of the Government is a recipient of this mega monetary ignominy. This will also take the same route of the 2 G Spectrum allocation scam where the plunder is done at the blessings from the Top.Utter shame Manmohan Singh on your 78th Birthday.
Suresh Kalmadi has taken India to a greater level in international sports arena.I have no authentic proof to tell him to be a corrupt person, but I feel any one in that position will do so.. Suresh has created this position by bidding for CWG and getting it hosted in India..I appreciate his leadership.. He is little confused as he lacks experience of holding such tournaments in India before and it will be a great exposure..
I am sure,at the end of the day,CWG will be a grand success...Indian spirit will shine in the entire world..

Hey - I have nothing personal against you - Please stop this POLLYANNA nonsense. India is looking so BAD in front of the entire world, and you want "proof" of his corruption?
Suresh did NOT bid for these games - the previous government did. All Suresh did was overpromise, underdeliver, and eat all the money. If thats what you want - Now you know why India is a THIRD WORLD ZERO.

by Subhash Bose on Sep 26, 2010 06:17 PM
Arent they rich enough already? Why do you want Kalmadi to share the loot with BCCI as well?
We Indians took a lot of pride and defended our country against prejudices and attacks from foreigners who held these stereotypes. Even well meaning foreigners who held these opinions, but state them with such rancor and maleveolence.
However, today all of us stand naked and exposed to the entire world. We are not men, but mice. The consequences of this failure will be unimaginable in the years to come. We will be again relegated to the "third world" basket, and never spoken of in the same breath as China.
What does this really mean? Foreign investments drying up, Moody ratings downgraded, political risks go up, overall managerial competence questioned, and these are just to start...
I am saddened to see so many defend unethical and immoral people like Kalmadi. There are plenty to take the blame, all the way from supreme goddess Sonia, her servant MMS, Mani Iyer - the previous sports secretary who did nothing for four years, yet kept his job..and the list goes on.
Do any of you really take pride in all this? Seriously? The games will go on, because the rest of the world has sympathy for India - it will go on with reluctance, with sorrow and not joy at less than half of what it could have been. A true calamity indeed!!!
