OK that Boapnna went down fighting to Brazil's Bellucci ! Atleast he made a match of it ! Well done Rohan !!
We all know Rohan as a 'better' doubles player than for his skills in the singles.
Keeping our fingers crossed !!

he is thirty years old ,he played 21 matches lost 14 and he is 30years old .he just made his name in the tennis world at the age of 30 it is pity ,it shows how poor is Indian tennis after the era of paes and mahesh .boppnna is just ordinary player he do not deserve to play for India

see this.

bopanna is 22.

according to the report he lost in 2003 to a dutchman in the dais cup.

means he was 15 years old.

and he has lost 14 out of 21 matches.

really young prodigy the really young fellow.

*The 22-year-old held his nerve to overcome the 30-year-old Indian 6-7 (2), 7-6 (7), 7-5, 4-6, 10-8 in a baseline slugfest that lasted a little less than four-and-a-half hours.

The match was reminiscent of India's 2003 tie against the Netherlands at Zwolle, where Bopanna, despite having plenty of chances against Dutchman Martin Verkerk, squandered them all and lost 10-12 in the fifth.

It was the Indian player's 14th defeat in 21 singles in the prestigious team competition*

I think the only "young prodigy" here is you!

"The 22-year-old held his nerve to overcome the 30-year-old Indian"

What part of 30-year old Indian could you tiny brain not process?

Oh come on !!

Bopanna became a hero few days back for NOT winning a double final in the US open. But, come on !! double games are played by THIRD graded players. So, his lost in single matches are obviously expected. He is no- where in the single's ranking.

DONT JUST MAKE HIM a "HERO" IN ONE DAY.

Just try to go and play the game. the lowest quality player will beat you without loosing a single game...

Why can't you guys look at the positive aspects?

Thats the problem with most indians. They tend to look at even the positive side of spitting on the roads and pisssing in the public. Not to forget crapping in the streets, which people like you will appreciate.

it is patheticTo say the least.. Thanks to this sustained culture of MediocrityWorshipping.. we indians have taken our liking for mediocrity so far, that it has begin toStink.. and despite having some of the sharpest and brightest brains and skills in the world, most indians only succeed in their fields when they go abroad (whether for higher learning or jobs)

if it were US, Australia or Europe (and even China), this Bopanna would have been thrown into a dustbit long ago.. The only player who can be called world-class and a fighter in Tennis is Leander Paes, who was once knocking the plyers of the calibre of Wayne Freira, Ivanisevich, Pete Sampras, threw it all for the Lazy Doubles

Bopanna is known to thrive in davis cup glory. Though he will lose, he get the glory for playing for national pride. Dont know how bellucci had to fight so much to win against around 450 ranked player in the world.

Prodigal Bopanna ?
by om shanti on Sep 17, 2010 05:34 PM  | Hide replies

I could not understand what this adjective means in the news title.

As I am aware prodigal means:

adjective
1. wastefully or recklessly extravagant: prodigal expenditure.
2. giving or yielding profusely; lavish (usually fol. by of or with ): prodigal of smiles; prodigal with money.
3. lavishly abundant; profuse: nature's prodigal resources.
–noun
4. a person who spends, or has spent, his or her money or substance with wasteful extravagance; spendthrift.

Any how Bopanna gave a great fight to a much higher ranked player...

Think one should give the writer a raqest and ask him or her to play a junior and would loose the game 6-0, 6-0.

They cant write such comments

The Umpire or Referee who judges the match, if you give him the racquet, do you think he is going to win?

So, for a writer to write something about movies, he has should atleast direct one movie.

A sports column writer to write anything about sports, he has to win some match?
