Congratulatins to the team !!
by kalyanaraman s. on Sep 11, 2010 11:19 AM  | Hide replies

This is indeed a very heart-warming news; to see two young professionals preaching something that the senior, educated statesmen fail to practice is a sad reflection on both the countries. let us emulate the "Munna Bhai" examples !

Rediff, for its part can start its contribution by consciously and actively moderating the messages and by preventing posts that spread venom and hatred across countries, states and religions. will they rise to the occasion ?

cheers

Tremendous team spirit
by Adi Mehta on Sep 11, 2010 10:54 AM  | Hide replies

It was a pleasure watching Bopanna and Qureshi. Their zest, vigour and spirit was so genuine. According to me they are winners, even though they may have lost the final. Anyways, it was a match that could have gone either way and both teams desereved to win. May their partnership last long and be warm and fruitful.

MISPLACED NATIONAL PRIDE!
by Kabeer on Sep 11, 2010 10:53 AM  | Hide replies

Funny!

Let us clear our heads first!

Davis cup represents national fervour-

Grandslams are Professional Tennis-

Yes! PROFESSIONAL!

It is not national but an individual pursuit of money and glory! Their achievements are not national honours!

But in a nation of one billion any and every individual pursuit of glory is labelled as national glory.

By the way, the slogan on T shirts can be interpreted both ways!

Stop war-Start Tennis!

Are the players telling this to their own nations or are they telling the message to the nation across the border!

"both ways" ? after all one an indian the other paki , both are wearing the same slogan.. so each is telling their own (country of origin) or the other .. what difference does it make?

further they are Professionals so what .. wouldnt you like to make money? But then they are also wearing the slogan which too makes them "careing " for their country and world at large ... and thank heavens they, the two, dont belong to the pseudo "National" brigade of hypocrites ...such as possibly you are?

Indian Press plays spoil Sport
by Talisman on Sep 11, 2010 10:38 AM

The indian news papers played spoil sport.

These morons interviewed the pair right before they played the finals. Usually these indian new paper morons never beleive any indian can win top honours.

So, they go there one day before and talk up their reaching finals as the biggest achievement.

Players should learn to shut down these morons before a big event!

Good fight
by shubasrikrishna on Sep 11, 2010 10:29 AM  | Hide replies

Eventhough Qureshi seems a little talkative and bringing politics to sports the team looks really solid. The quality of their game was very good considering it is their first Grandslam appearance. The Bryan brothers better watch out as Iam sure these guys will do well in the future.
