kalmadi was an airforce pilot for 8 yrs.. yet his attitude n demeanor n responsibilities did not reflect any of the high standards that a service member of the defence would imbibe
There is no doubts the games were a success. But the reality of our countries organisational skills and inadequecies were exposed to the world. It was a shame for the whole country. The taxpayers money has been thrown to ashes. An event that could have been conducted with $2b, has gone to four fold because of our unorganised fuctioning. Pathetic. Mr. Kalmadi and Mrs Dixit are both held reponsible for this. You will have to face the charges and take up the resposiblities

China spent 3 fold more money for thr olympics... china is not a developed country either. I hate this concept of tax-payer's money. Believe it or not, sports is the only way a country can remain healthy. These games have certainly encouraged lots of parents to support thr children's sports career unlike what scenario was before 10 years. Just because you don't like sports, you say that it could have been budgeted less?

My friend china has not spend this amount of money for their olympics. I agree that sports is a good way to bring out the best in your country. But when I tell taxpayers money is wasted, it is because of certain delays that it went much beyond than expected. For instance, there was this bid for the food and beverage section. At first an australian company had a tender for 720 million IRs. The bid was finalised by a fratenity from PMO. But it was cancelled by Mr. Kalmadi and a fresh tender was introduced, wihout any success. It was awarded to a British company in the end through the same Austrailian company as that company was already booked for other coming events. The cost was raised from 720million IRs to 960million IRs. There are many such instances. Look the price of a tissue roll. Even in US it will not cost more than 1$. But for games it cost nearly 100$. These are just two. Similarly the DMRD has purchased the flats from Emaar, at the rate of Rs12985, instead of Rs 8565 as originally required, despite the buildings in the games village having no buyers. So, whose funds are these Mr. Rahul. We bore the brunt and we bore the shame. Mr Kalmadi and Mrs Dickshit are washing their hands and they will not even be convicted. Even the enquiry is a mockery. The world did not look at two or three people, they looked at the whole country and it is a shame on us Indians to still trust these corrupt, no good politicians again and again. We are shamed. Face it Buddy. Me too.
