Huh?
by mar mar on Oct 16, 2010 04:31 AM

Paper quote:
"Delhi has bid goodbye. But never, ever, will these Commonwealth Games be forgotten."

Rediff's take:
"So impressed was the media that it went to the extent of saying that Delhi Games will never be forgotten"

Wishful thinking? Maybe they meant it wont be forgotten because of all the controversies?

Time for India to pull out of common wealth
by Calspadeaspade on Oct 15, 2010 05:22 PM  | Hide replies

What is this non sense called common wealth?. Why should this Brits be glorified by their ex subjects. Time to move on.Brits are nothing today but struggling poodles of US.Australia, even worse. Who cares about what their media thinks?

well said.

The CWG should be stopped completely. it is only symbolic of our slavism. we must prepare for olympics from now on.

Kalmadi should be hanged now. Successful games completion does not mean Kalmadi can be excused.

Kalmadi was trying to even make it political by praising Sonia and rahul as chamcha.

I totally agree...
- even Queen didn't bother to attend!

The host country spends all the money and then the queen comes and declares it open, then closed.. Nice! Sorry, that era has passed.

I think we should have the games! but it will be not common wealth and no specific role to any country like England, but the hosts who spend the money.
So, let us rename it and have a new games. I doubt it will happen in 2014, but definitely for 2018 we can try to have it changed from the current format!

Australian CWG team's carnage at the village.....
by Globalcrusador on Oct 15, 2010 01:42 PM  | Hide replies

The Australian team which misbehaved at the Games village dropping a washing machine from the 8th floor should have been immediately arrested, put behind bars and made to pay for the damages in full. When our boys are manhandled in Australia for no reason why should GOI let them go scot free. Their behaviour reinforces the fact that the world can not expect any better behaviour from the progenies of outright criminals.

Hey, come on. U can excuse aussies for it. because it is in their blood. everybody knows how the aussies genes are running in their families from the time british were using land of Australia as permanent jail for criminals.

excuse them for not their fault but for their genes.

and indian genes are of mythological saints huh! thats why barbaric attacks like mumbai godhra ayodhya sikh riots naxal violence mumbai riots happen ever so frequently that is why bride burning wife burning in name of religion honor killing happens. im not justifying aussie behavior but its always easier to blame the other rather than introspect yourselves and become a better person

asian games 2010
by biswanath roy on Oct 15, 2010 01:34 PM  | Hide replies

the asian games 2010 is to be held in guangzhou, china from the 12th to 27th november 2010.looking to the good form exhibited by our sportsperson in CWG 2010, i am sure india can fetch atleast 30-35 gold medals. when against sports super powers like australia & england we could get 38 goldmedals, we should easily get the above figure as no sports super power apart from hosts china is participating.

Actually Asian games would be very tough as China and Korea would participate. Remember,China dominated the olympics. It will be tough to win medals in Badminton, TT but we should do well in Wrestling and Boxing ...and to an extent in shooting

China, South Korea, Japan are much better in sports compared CW countries.... its not going to be that easy for India..
Moreover India is not hosting these games, hence some advantage is lost.
But let's wish all the best to Indian contingent..
