U are right, Buddy. India is destined to become a great world power that will one day lord over the earth as it used to in the past.

It has been prophesied and it is destined to come true, all signs of things that lead to it are coming out in open. However we need to curb our unbridled population growth and chuck out our corrupt politicians and bureaucrats. It may not happen in our lifetimes but is surely to happen in our grand childcare's lifetimes.

Asian games expectations
by om shanti on Oct 12, 2010 10:34 PM  | Hide replies

India had initiated the Asian games and first Asiad was held in Delhi in 1951 where India won 15 gold medals and achieved 2nd position..India's second highest gold medal haul in Asiad was 13 medal in 1982 Delhi with 5th position ..Even in 1986,India was 5th with 1 gold.
India's deterioration started in 1990
and since then India's position were 12,8,9,8 and 8 in 5 following Asiads which were very low and Indias' gold haul was between 7 to 15 during this period.

With the recent success in CWG,we expect that India will break the highest 15 gold medal records and surpass and set a new bench mark for the country.Inclusion of Kabaddi and Chess to Asiad should also boost the gold medal haul in scheduled to start in Guangzhou ,China in November...

by kieran dsouza on Oct 12, 2010 10:26 PM  | Hide replies

what a race by the Indian women athletes. They relegated the tough Nigerians and English to silver and bronze respectively. This shows that Indians are comparable with the best.

that too, the English, Australian, Canadian, Malaysian teams comprise of so many African/Indian/Chinese ethnicity so it is like we are competing against the entire world!!

a very credible performance indeed

Heard about Major Dhyanchand's story now
by Roshni Dev on Oct 12, 2010 10:14 PM  | Hide replies

Major Dhyanchand was offered by Hitler to come and stay in Germany after India beat Germany 8-1 in Berlin Olympics 1936.
He simply said I cant leave my country, and at that time No one had the guts to refuse Hitler.

He played that match without shoes - bare footed and scored 6 goals against the german. Hitler could not see Germany losing, he left the ground

Medal conversion rate to gold:India is ahead of England
by om shanti on Oct 12, 2010 10:05 PM  | Hide replies

Formula : gold/total medals x %

Australia : 68/153 %= 44 %

India : 32/89 = 35 %

England : 30/121 = 25 %

It means India is much ahead of England in converting success from bronze/silver to gold..

England is found best in converting bronze medals to silver..

I think the Appeal means the Referee's will be in a Position to bother, next false referring means It will show case the world what they are really doing so they will be little careful this time.

So if India manage tomorrow
by Senthil on Oct 12, 2010 09:56 PM  | Hide replies

India can end up with Second Position.

The Biggest problem is England Have 5 Boxers in the Final and India have only 3 and one is against each other. Hope India win all 3 and England lose all 5

But then Still we have many Shooting Gold's Tomorrow and I hope India wins few

If India Managed to stay at no.2 Tomorrow then we can end up at.2 as well.

Hockey is also a possibility (though remote) considering the way India has been performing in this CWG in all disciplines.

Its not a big deal , in past also even we beaten strong teams in ASIAD 4x400, as compare to asia games here all the 4x400 team of womens are weaker.. so nothing specail...always our team do good in 4x400 and even 4x100 both in womens ... that too if you see all these womesn are mostly from kerela or punjab...so naturally they r good athelets
