we have too many arm chair critics who, on hind sight, come up with fancy ideas. Where were they before the event? The opening ceremony was vibrant as India is a very vibrant nation. The colours and sound of the nation was depicted beautifully. As some one mentioned, the batton bearer shouldn't be chewing the cud when carrying the batton. Also, I understand, it is not correct to address wife of Prince Charles as HRH. Yes, Princess Diana was HRH but not Camilla Parker. Yet the President used HRH. Correct me if i am wrong.

its like putting expensive perfumes & powders on a cancer patient (INDIA) hoping that others (FOREIGNERS) will not notice the horrible stench & pitiable condition
a. Our President not speaking in perfect English. She left Duchess of Cornwall with a wide grin when she addressed her in her lecture.
b. Baton being presented by Sushil Kumar chewing something, like cattle chewing cud. It looked ill mannered and disrespectful. The baton should have been presented by the boxer Mary Kom and not Sushil Kumar.

Mr Author, You seem to be suffering from some inferior complexity either because you were refused free pass by Kalmadi and company or simply because you are incapable. Stop criticizing always and think constructively at least some times. It is easy to criticize and say what could have been done and what was wrong etc etc!! Would you have done a better job if given an opportunity? Probably you would not have even managed 1% of what was showcased. So stop blubbering. I felt the whole show was wonderful and it was good to showcase to the entire world things taht are specific of India and particularly the rich cultural heritage and its diverse ethnicity. Well done to the organizers and to the whole team who pulled it off. And to hell with such mindless authors and rediff's paid journalism and cheap publicity.

I agree with you. Brainless author. For them it seems life is Bollywood only. Please grow up and see the India as a normal person, instead of as a Page3 Editor. First Tell me, why you have to show the future?

Yes, the doctor should solve you basic problem of insanity
After it was prima facie found that there was massive corruption, delay, and incompetence in the execution of CWG project, our PM should have stopped the scheduled event and straightaway appointed a High-Powered Commission of Enquiry. He could have asked the main CWG Committee for another date, say next year to conduct the games. How can anyone appreciate, clap, and enjoy the heavily tainted opening ceremony, the games, and to-come-up the closing function. But then to act righteously, the authorities have to have courage, integrity, and sense of committment.
How can we think of spending crores and crores of public funds knowing fully that Kalmadi & Co have created the entire mess. By continuing the CWG, what message PM and Soniaji are sending to the youth of this country? I think these two have done a great harm to the moral fabric of this beautiful country.

If everyone thinks like you then they have to stop travelling on public road and stop use of public buses bec traffic police and RTA is corrupt; stop travelling abroad bec police takes 200 Rs while verifying passport details etc etc and the list is endless. If CWG OC is corrupt, why should PM stop scheduled event????? I donot see any logic. Mr Prof Sant: Use your brains on some occasions. Bec PM is not allwowing Telengana to be formed..donot start crticicizing the whole world!!!

D. Goel Pkl. afternoon, 2.55pm, Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010. I am not sure wgatSrimati Sheela Bhatt desired to see at Nehru Stadium on 3rd's Evening... She seems to dislike old ways of Tamashbini , drums Dancers, Musicians and hundreds of Women clapping whirling in their Saris in abandon. We cannot become westernised Cost/benefit Paradigm led Indian entrepreneurs , perhaps if there are any they do not crowd Stadia. They are sitting with their Personal Lap-Tops in the cosy offices or Bedrooms most of the day and nights in worship of Jingling $s.So why spilt your acerbic spleen on Petty mediocre Nouveau Riches of glorified Village of Raysina ie Lutyens' New Delhi.D. Like most of the countrymen, I too ridicule the corruption and deadlines being extended and the state of affairs being displayed across all over the world. But then this was a grand event, it was simply majestic. You people seem to find faults and negatives into everything. Sorry, I don't agree with you. Like someone has commented here, I would say pls do suggest a script for the event. Or rather you would have wanted fighter air-crafts hovering the sky.

In fact, the corruption issue of the Commonwealth Games did not bother Siddhartha, Arisia, Neha and Varsha, who are all young and impressive Delhities.???
If this is right, we should look only at the development done by Modi, and should not bother about the Gujarat riots.
For sake of comment on the opening ceromony you can pass any comment it does not reflect the Indian view. It is more a personal feeling coming out from a person namely Shiel Bhatt. That to depending upon her projection of India (Ancient and Modern)and of course her upbringing and society around which she moves and western view as she think about. Here We should not take it seriously. Its her personal view. For me like million of Indian the opening was a grand success.
