Nobody claimed we are rich. We always project that we are a country on the rise - an economic powerhouse.

Corrupt go Free by Paying to Congress Head and tail
by Sridhar Raman on Oct 04, 2010 03:40 PM  | Hide replies

The kalmadi's dixit, sharads and bhujbal pay part of their loot to sonia mania and rahul
So they will never be punished.
Even in the case of telecom raja paid the rani(sonia) to keep her mouth shut
Even if India is shamed or their mother is shamed or their wife is shamed they only know the language called Money

Incredible India
by vijaya kumar on Oct 04, 2010 03:25 PM  | Hide replies

Incredible India ! The spectacular event made us forget for some time all the shame politicians brought upon India and its people. Dear politicians, dont take shelter under the best opening performance at CWG. The shame you brought on us was unnecessary. My appeal to the politicians, you can choose to remain corrupt, eat money as much as you want, take whatever you want but never let down the country and its people. Today, India is shining only because of the private entrepreneurs competitive spirit and urge to grow globally. If government (political parties) can get their acts together and provide all the necessary supporting infrastructure, India will not only shine forever, she will enlighten the whole universe.

Indian media is too negative
by raju chacha on Oct 04, 2010 03:24 PM  | Hide replies

There is an old story of company exporting crabs to overseas. The MD of the company never used to pack the crabs he just use to dispatch it in open basket. One foreign journalist asked why you never pack these crabs, the MD told look these are Indian crabs, they shall never let other crabs get out of basket. The same holds in every workplace in India. Media people are also Indians hence they have this ability to sensationalize every news based on negative feelings. They are not bothered how these news is damaging image of India especially in developed countries. Everybody looks to India as a filthy and dirty country although we have the best place for tourism and modern infrastructure. I personally feel media supports only 10% postive news while 90% is based on negative sentiments. Even if they balance it out to 50-50% then they shall be doing a very good job for the country

Exactly.....

See the way international news channel covers news. Indian news channel will show a small crack the whole day.... Sensationalize it and talk about it the whole day.

People should realize that their own country India is like their home and have an image to project. No body or no country is perfect. It was like a wedding....where the people of the house are trying to have a grand wedding and they have their own problems and there are others who would be happy to point mistakes....make fun and do not bother its their own relative or friend. This was how we reacted.

Faults and short comings or frauds if there could be pointed out in decent way rather than bringing their own country down.

Most of the times our News channel and the TV Serials behave in the same way.

When the Queen had difficulties coming to India for the opening ceremony why didn't they ask Queen Sonia to open the Games?? She is the de facto Queen anyway:)

11th our show!
by AXIS TECHNOLOGIES on Oct 04, 2010 03:16 PM

We are well talented to keep things in abeyance till 11th hour. And we are extra-ordinarily talented to rise suddenly at 11th hour and put everyone in surprise in the 12th hour show! Great fire fighters! But not to forget, fire fighting costs lot of money. I am sure there would have very free flow of money (or money comes free) in the final hours for the preparation. Finally, India is proud!

Indians have very short memory & politicians take ben
by vijaya kumar on Oct 04, 2010 03:11 PM

The opening ceremony was looking good after all the problems. But I was surprised when spectators cheered for Mrs. Shiela Dixit. We have seen looting of public money on pavements, roads, fallen bridge by Delhi Government also. If any one has clue? Does it prove true that we Indians have a very short memory and politicians take benefit of it? Is it going to be the same way like IPL- when just Mr. Modi was removed? Here only Mr. Kalmadi will be removed and all other politicans laugh and admire their bank accounts.

I feel greatly proud of my country for its democracy and rich culture.

The Ayodaya verdict and now the successful opening ceremony the good reviews and reports flooding in, makes me absolutely proud of my country.

Wish to see such success ratio as a regular pattern in all spheres of our lives and in the country.

Great!!

yeah, london olympics is going to cost them 2200 crores but cwg will cost us 70000 crores. we dont hear farmer deaths in england, 70,000 crores would have been helpful to a extremely large no of families to lead a decent life. howmuchever grand opening or completion of game it might be. it is not what india wants... it is like celebrating your kids birthday spectaculary and not having money to feed and school. we sure r a shameful lot but to forget corruption so fast and accept whatever happens. india is sure hopeless

Understandable and appreciate what you say but are we always to handle misery in our country? let us also learn to accept success stories like this and stop being cry babies!

There are some poor people here in this forum who have never heard of terms like Soft Power of a country.

So Gitanjali & Clinton, do not feel bad b'coz of such ignorant people.

They are like a typical baniya who can never understand why companies spend money on advt. They r people with a small vision and even narrower outlook to life.

Be that as it may, we should cheer for the sake of our country and take the burden of carrying such pessimists along.

Btw, country spent 70K crores not entirely on the games but also for infrastructure like the new world class airport in Delhi, Metro and stadiums.

And I am sure if we were able to somehow get rid of the corruption then the 70K Cr spending would have come to 20-30K Cr. The rest 50k Cr is in pockets and lost in mis-management.
