•      Barring few like level headed Somdev, many atheletes who peaked during CWG were found to be dazed in this event.Shooting coach even resigned and said,it is all those public receptions honouring CWG achievements that did not allow shooters to have enough practice.
•      Those who failed in CWG had enough time to practice as they did not require to attend functions and photo shoots and perform in Asiad, for example Shreedharan Preeja,Abraham Joseph,Vijender Singh, etc.
•      For Vijender it was a point proven in Asiad,so was for Sania Mirza who contributed to our medal kitty in her small way
•      Without taking any credit,I must also say that our badminton , table tennis and players in many other events come cropper when they face Chinese competitors.
•      Our 649 athletes won 64 medals, so the medal strike rate with respect to contingent size is about 10%.
•      Largest ever medal haul for India in Asiad although its not best ever position we achieved
•      We missed many medals by whisker, tally could have definitely been improved.More practice and dedication and encouragement will bring a drastic change in this regard.
•      We congratulate our medal winners and all atheletes for their achievements and wish them best for future events

No country plays this crappy KABADDI. India is playing this games since 1930 and it was added in Asian Games after 1982 Asian Games. So What's a big deal. let other countries master this Kabaddi than we will see.

Asiad Summary
by Om Shanti on Nov 26, 2010 07:47 PM  | Hide replies

India had following achievements in Asian games,2010.It seems this wraps up our medal scopes in the event unless there appears a surprise medal from marathon tomorrow:

•      Indian women’s and men’s Kabaddi team got gold medals as expected
•      4 x400 meters Indian women bagged gold
•      Vijender Singh roared back to thump his authority and shrug off the non show of CWG and clinched the gold medal. He was in such aggressive mood that he thrashed the Uzbek world champion 7-0.
•      Preeja Shreedharan won silver in 5000 meters although she had a keen contest with the gold medalist.
•      Virothu Santhosh Kumar settled for boxing silver
•      Kavita Raut settled for the bronze in 5000 meters
•      Yama Anup Kumar got bronze in Men’s single free skating
•      Yama Anup Kumar and Avani Bharat Kumar Panchal were also able to get a bronze in pairs skating
•      Indian men and women chess team had to be content with bronze
•      In the last medal event of the day,Manpreet Singh also had to settle for silver,as the Syrian opponent was to strong to tackle !
•      India won 12 medals today,4 gold,3 silver and 5 bronze
•      India setted for 6th position with 14 gold,17 silver,33 bronze,total 64 medals,this is India’s highest ever medal haul in Asiad since 1982(57 medals).
•      On 13 February 1949,

Preeja should've won Gold in 5000 also after winning 10000meters. but looks like runners find out that she is running to WIN and they are running for TIME. They change their tactis and ran 5000 to WIN. THAT's why Preeja settled with silver. NOW U KNOW WHAT & HOW THE RACE IS RUN ON THE TRACK.

•      On 13 February 1949, the Asian Athletic Federation was formally inaugurated in New Delhi, alongside the name Asian Games Federation, with New Delhi announced as the first host city of the Asian Games which were scheduled to be held in 1951.India was in 2nd position behind Japan in 1951 Asiad with 15 gold medals and total 51 medals.
•      In 1994 we were 8th,in 1998 we were 9th,in 2002 and 2006 both 8th and here in 2010 we climb to 6th position
•      Since 1951, it is 59 years and still we could not level that 15 gold medal haul..however, we bettered than 1982 Delhi Asiad, where we had bagged 13 golds..we are moving but in a snails pace, where as the world is moving so fast…
•      Liu Xiang, the Athens Olympics and 2010 Asiad 110 m hurdles gold medalist of China gets a salary of 1.6 billion Yuan(1000 crores) per year,I am afraid to calculate what Abraham Joseph,400 m hurdles gold medalist must be getting ! We think giving him salary and some facilities is enough sympathy showed, whereas in China sports men are considered to be modern day heroes.
•      Thanks to Olympic gold quest of L.N.Mittal, for sponsoring our athletes targeting London Olympics
•      Government had done a good thing by sending a huge contingent of 649 atheletes, they will get great exposure and saw what is competition and what is outside world

Mr. Om Shanti: DO U KNOW...
1978 BANGKOK ASIAN GAMES:
800 METERS MEN & WOMEN BOTH GOLD
MEDALS WENT TO INDIA. THIS WAS FIRST TIME IN ASIAN GAMES HISTORY SAME COUNTRY WON BOTH EVENTS IN MEN & WOMEN. ABRAHAM JOSEPH IS NOT CLOSE. LETS SEE IF HE WINS GOLD IN NEXT ASIAN GAMES. USUALLY MOST ASIAN GAMES
GOLD MEDALISTS DISAPPEAR AFTER ONE ASIAN GAMES. LIU XIANG IS WINNING NOT ONLY OLYMPICS BUT OTHER MAJOR COMPETITIONS. NEVER
COMPARE ONE ATHLETE WITH ANOTHER PERFORMANCE WISE OR SALARY WISE.

•      It is time to change, all political people should get lost and sports people and management experts need to take up sports organizations
•      It is time, our corporate and media promote sports other than cricket
•      It is time government thinks that sports is a career and achievement in sports is our national pride..
•      We need to act fast…our system needs to change fast,or else people will discard all obsolete people and welcome Nitish Kumar type leaders..it is now or never..good night…
