Hail Haryanvis
by Sandeep Nibber on Nov 25, 2010 09:44 PM  | Hide replies

This guy Vikas Krishan may not be technically stronger or whatever but seems very shrewed, seen first time among indian boxers who lose more often because lack of tactics than practice or strength. You need to use lot of psychology in highest events like these. Every opponent needs to be tackled accordingly than just pure aggression. In normal hand to hand fight, vikas may probably beat shit out of chinese guy but in the rule bound game, its different game altogether. Its no mean achievement. Luck favours the brave and smart. I like to see more of these Haryanvis/Delhi boys getting medals. The trend is already there, needs to sustain. Public need to like them than just cricketers. sponsors will pick them in no time.

Haryanvis have fetched India 15 golds in this and last international games.. I read somewhere in one of these rediff boards..

Sad that Saina missed out this time, she'd have won a sure gold.

•      It was a special day for India at Asiad when we saw our athletes trying to put their best to achieve the superlative performance. Our hearts were swelling up with pride when one by one they picked up three golds for India.
•      In my yesterday’s summary ,I expected 3-4 golds today, the actual result was close to it.

•      It was heartening to see GanapathiPallackalAbrahamJoseph and AkkunjiAshwiniChidananda running for their lives to fetch two golds in men’s and women’s 400m hurdles.TintuLuka although led most part of the race, finally had to settle for a bronze in 800 m as she ran out of steam towards the end.

•      Vikash Krishan brought home a boxing gold after 12 years gap in Asiad.Dinesh Kumar settled for bronze.

•      Indian hockey team got a bronze so did Mausam Khatri broke the deadlock in wrestling.

•      3 gold,1 silver,3 bronze, not a bad day at all !We moved upto 8th position in the medal chart with 53 medals(10 gold,14 silver,29 bronze) and equaled with the medal haul of Doha Asiad.

•      At the beginning of Asiad, I expected India to win about 16-20 gold and around 60-65 medals.Let us see where it ends!

Medal expectations on penultimate day 26th November,2010

1.      Kumari Sahana in women’s high jump
2.      Kashinath and Rajender in javelin
3.      Renjith and Amarjit in triple jump
4.      Kavita and Preeja in 5000m
5.       4 x 100 women’s and men’s relay team
6.      4 x 400 men’s and women’s relay team
7.      Santhosh,Vijender and Manpreet will aspire for boxing golds
8.      Oinam Jamesboy Singh in 200m men’s canoe
9.      Last rounds best efforts by our chess players
10.      Men and women Kabaddi golds
11.      Vikash,Shekhar,Sunil and Sumitra will try in Karate
12.      Sepaktakraw players will also gain some more experience
13.      Suman,Geeta and Gurusharan will battle in wrestling

•      Tomorrow should be the most eventful day for India in Asian Games,Guangzhou,2010.Anything between 4-8 gold medals can come to India’s kitty. The possibility of landing in top 5 position is huge and we hope our athletes will put their best efforts to achieve it.
And,we will be backing and cheering them to the hilt with our sincere wishes…good night !

Good list. Let us hope for the best. I was expecting India to score 30-40 golds based on CWG tally. But I think scoring 20 golds would be a long shot at this point.

Actually many athletes who peaked in performance in CWG could not repeat the same performance in Guangzhou due to incompatible timings of both events.

Eg: Sushil Kumar, wrestler and Saina Nehwal, badminton champion

In spite of above, it is a credible performance by our athletes

Very good compilation and letus hope for the best tomorrow. Letus hope we touch the total of 65.

Let me guess for now:
2 golds in kabaddi for sure. And atleast 1 gold for relay teams. Also atleast 2 golds in boxing. I am sure preeja will well in 5000m. And rest all will get bronze or silver atleast.Letus hope we cross 65 with 16 golds. Long live Indian sports. I envisage, India should give real tough competition to China/Korea by next Asiad. And At last but not least, Make Tendulkar or KapilDev Or PT Usha the sports minister to really achieve this. Or vice versa No kalmadi, more medals.

that was a tactic, with the chinese referees totally biased. Score pts and then use up the time- thats what many other boxers did too- so think twice before posting such comments.

Boss what is important is the blows he landed on the opponent's face and he delivered on that.....so we should congratulate our heroes rather criticising them
