by om shanti on Nov 25, 2010 09:30 PM  | Hide replies

•      It was a special day for India at Asiad when we saw our athletes trying to put their best to achieve the superlative performance. Our hearts were swelling up with pride when one by one they picked up three golds for India.
•      In my yesterday’s summary ,I expected 3-4 golds today, the actual result was close to it.

•      It was heartening to see GanapathiPallackalAbrahamJoseph and AkkunjiAshwiniChidananda running for their lives to fetch two golds in men’s and women’s 400m hurdles.TintuLuka although led most part of the race, finally had to settle for a bronze in 800 m as she ran out of steam towards the end.

•      Vikash Krishan brought home a boxing gold after 12 years gap in Asiad.Dinesh Kumar settled for bronze.

•      Indian hockey team got a bronze so did Mausam Khatri broke the deadlock in wrestling.

•      3 gold,1 silver,3 bronze, not a bad day at all !We moved upto 8th position in the medal chart with 53 medals(10 gold,14 silver,29 bronze) and equaled with the medal haul of Doha Asiad.

But buddy, Mary Kom's defeat was an unexpected one....it is heard that she was done in by bad and biased refereeing. Else she would have at least a silver, if not a gold

Buddy,Ren Cancan's tactics was not sporting, she kept on holding Mary and did not allow her to punch, another problem Mary had was with the loose head gear..it was disappointing..the revenge will come in London 2012..Suronjoy loss also not digestible..any how hope for their best performance in London Olympics..

Brasa 's resignation should not be accepted
by sudarshan chat on Nov 25, 2010 08:28 PM

IF at all we have seen India earn some good name in the recent past, it is because of Brasa.

Under him, we are consistently beating Pakistan, and getting past team like England and S Korea. We donot want the bad days to hit again.

Regards
Sudarshan

For me, beating South Korea was more satisfying than the bronze medal. It appears like all India wants to retain Jose Brasa except HI federation.

I fully agree and I don't know why Rediff doesn't create a voting among Rediff viewers to create a page for support for Jose Brasa's extension !

Has done a decent job. In his tenure, we won Azlan Shah Cup, our performance in World Cup was the best in quite some time, won a silver in CWG and bronze in Asian Games.

Last, but not the least, we defeated Pakistan three times a row.

I think he should be retained for better results.
