Writer here mentions that 'Sudha made up for her poor outing at last month's Commonwealth Games'. Let me clear the facts. Sudha was 5th in commonwealth games and still broke the national record by good few seconds. She was the first Indian women to complete the race in less than 10 minutes. You should remember that Kenya's,Eithopian's, English were there to challenge her. In Asiad, her performance was even more remarkable as she broke her own national record by 4 seconds.
You are judging performance based on medals not on personal best timings.

kAVITA RAUT
by Gyaan on Nov 21, 2010 10:51 PM  | Hide replies

Let me share an inspiring story of Kavita Raut: She stays is a tribal region of Maharashtra and still walks 2 miles everyday to bring drinking water. Earlier, she could not prepare properly because she could not afford to change shoes every 3 months. Her parents, who still leave in the remote town, have never seen their daughter's achievement. Kavita's dream is to to give winning performance in front of her parents. In fact, she had promised to win the gold at any cost, if someone manages to bring her parents in china so that she can perform in front of them.

KUDOS TO KAVITA...WE ARE PROUD OF YOU !!

My Dear Friends
I feel better to Add Scam Competeions in Asian Games ad Olypics. Then surely india will get one more medal. It is very much shame that India is second place in population . From these population we are very much far behind than other nations in case of Games. so it is advicable for India that better not to participate in any Games

Shame on our sports officials
by Om Shanti on Nov 21, 2010 08:33 PM  | Hide replies

Shame on our sports officials who were spending their time in massage parlour.

There was no one to take care of almost unconscious Sudha after her gold winning feat.

Even Preeja and Kavita were searching for an Indian flag to held in pride..

But shameless officials have no sense of national pride, they are going to China just to enjoy. They have no confidence that one Preeja or one Sudha can fetch India prestigious medal.

From tomorrow all officials must be in the playing venues with Indian flags ready in hand.Or they deserve to be hanged till death...

Rediff kindly create a big noise on this irresponsible behaviour of sports officials..

yes I saw the same and I was shocked by absence of flag to do the victory lap. Imagine!! these wonderful athletes win a gold and silver in athletics and not a single Indian official in sight!! No flag!! What a shame
