what happened to saina?
by Jugal Ahuja on Nov 20, 2010 08:25 PM  | Hide replies

the much acclaimed saina nehwal, whom we expected to give a gold, came a cropper in the QF against a much lower ranked hong kong chinese player. saina has got her world 3 ranking in 2010 by playing & winning tournaments where the top ranking chinese did not participate like the indonesian open, indian open & singapore open. however whenever she came up against a star chinese player she lost, that too in straight 2 games, such as world championship 2009 in hyderabad, england open 2010, & world championship 2010 paris. winning the gold in CWG 2010, lifted our hopes & we expected from her a repeat performance at Asiad 2010, but her true calibre was exposed @ guangzhou.the girl has immense potential but needs more exposure against the best in the world, & should stop participating in ramp shows & being brand ambassadors.
