Vishy is a real hero . True. but tht doesnt mean you would pull someone else down on the pretext of it. SRT is gr8 in his own way.
Vishy rocks! and I pursued the game of chess quite seriously, played in a few tourneys too, so Vishy has a special place in my list of heroes! :)

SRT never contributes when needed, he's abt records and flat tracks.
Congratulations Viswanathan Anand. Your win is glorious, unbeatable and wonderful. Despite the very tire some 40 hours bus journey, you could come on top with flying colours. To the Viswa (world) of Chess you are the true Nath (the reigning champion). It is high time that media should start focusing on games and champions which and who are bringing top class glory to India and making all the Indians proud with their achievements.
In my assessment and opinion Viswanathan Anand is one of the best bet and best candidate as far as sports are concerned for conferring Bharat Ratna on him . Because he is FOUR times world chess champion and 11 times world chess champion in the rapid format of chess apart from his many world class achievements in chess. And also he is the only player in the world to win in all formats (game, match and knockout) the world title. And finally and most importantly Chess was born and originated in India and by the Indians. And he is the first Indian to be champion in this Indians invented game.

High time we dump hyped game like cricket & give chance to other games to flourish.Media also please take notice & stop bombarding us with cricket trivia all the times.
Congrats to him the true world champion. When he lost the first match some people commented that he is unprepared for the match because of his Bus journey. But he truely won the crown in a wonderful style.
Chess is a game for intellectually brilliants. And almost in all developed countries the elite know the game and even plays and follows. That way Anand is a household name in many countries. And his Indian status gives India also laurels in those circles. In fact he can be considered as an self sponsored 'brand' Ambassador for India. Unlike the retorts for give Bharat Ratna for Sachin after his 200NO, this gentle man's is a genuine case Team Rediff should concentrate more on sports other than cricket for sure.
I remember he felt bad once earlier when he was not given as rousing a welcome as the t20 WC winning cricketers when he came home after winning a championship last time.
Now the world has come a full circle and he should expect a far better reception compared to our vanquished celebrities.

Don't count on that. Our blind, dumb and corrupt politicians will see to it that the cricket losers will get a rousing reception. As usual, they will ignore Anand, more so because he is not a North Indian.
